Destiny 2 has 11 dungeons as of October 2026, from The Shattered Throne to Equilibrium. They are three-player activities launched from the Raids and Dungeons node, and each needs its expansion or a Dungeon Key. One dungeon is featured each week with better loot, and most drop an exotic weapon or quest exotic.
What is a Destiny 2 dungeon?
A dungeon is a three-player endgame activity that sits between a strike and a raid. It is shorter than a raid, usually has two or three bosses plus a puzzle or traversal section, and is tuned so that a skilled player can even clear it solo. Bungie ended active development with the Monument of Triumph update on June 9, 2026, so the dungeon list below is now fixed. Every dungeon released since 2018 is still playable.

How do you unlock and launch a dungeon?
Access is about ownership, not progress. Once you own the content, the launch itself takes a minute:
- Check what you own. Each dungeon needs its expansion or its Dungeon Key. Destiny 2: The Collection, released June 9, 2026, includes the keys, and keys are also sold in Eververse.
- Finish the Monument of Triumph on-ramp if you are returning. Go to the Tower, visit the Monument of Triumph in the middle of the plaza and follow the starter quest.
- Open the Director. The old Legends node is gone. Dungeons now launch from the Raids and Dungeons node, and some also appear through Pinnacle Ops.
- Pick the dungeon and difficulty. The featured dungeon for the week is marked; choose Standard for a first clear or Master if it is offered and your team is ready.
- Form a fireteam. There is no matchmaking, so invite friends or post in the Fireteam Finder from the roster screen. Say if it is your first clear.
- Launch together. The fireteam leader launches; everyone loads into the dungeon's first area.
What do you need before you start?
Dungeons are less forgiving than strikes because there are only three of you and limited revives. Before you load in:
- Power: the cap is 550. You do not need to be capped for Standard, but the further below the activity you are, the less damage you deal and the more you take.
- A survivability build: healing, overshields or damage resistance matter more here than in a raid, especially if you play solo.
- Boss damage: one heavy or special weapon with strong sustained damage, plus a super that fits the boss.
- Add clear: a primary or ability build that deletes small enemies, since many encounters flood the room.
- Roles: with three players, agree who handles the mechanic (picking up a buff, standing on plates, solving a symbol puzzle) and who clears adds.
- Allowed tools: the official Destiny companion app and Bungie-approved third-party apps that use the Bungie API for loadouts are fine. Never use cheats, macros or anything that automates play.
Dungeon-by-dungeon overview
This is a short overview of what each dungeon asks of you, not a full encounter script. For a first clear, watch one video per boss once you know which dungeon you are running.
The Shattered Throne
A Dreaming City dungeon with a lot of platforming. The final fight against Dûl Incaru takes place in a tight arena where her Taken adds hit hard. Assign one player to call out where enemies spawn and keep supers for the damage phase.
Pit of Heresy
A Hive dungeon under the Moon, built around carrying and banking a buff on a timer. Zulmak, the final boss, punishes fireteams that split up poorly. Xenophage comes from a quest tied to this dungeon.
Prophecy
Built around light and dark motes, swapping roles quickly and long add phases. The final boss, Kell Echo, needs steady add control and clean mote handling. It has no exotic, but its armor is a common target.
Grasp of Avarice
A Fallen and Hive dungeon in the Cosmodrome, with a curse that builds over time and must be cleansed. The final boss is Captain Avarokk. The Gjallarhorn exotic comes from its related quest, not as a random boss drop.
Duality
You move between the real world and a nightmare version of the Leviathan, and each side holds part of the solution. Heartshadow, a Void sword, can drop from the final boss, the Nightmare of Caiatl. Communication about who is in which realm is the key skill.
Spire of the Watcher
A tall Mars facility where you power systems on the way up and fight Vex bosses. The last fight is against Persys. Hierarchy of Needs, a Solar bow, is the exotic.
Ghosts of the Deep
A Hive ritual dungeon set deep under Titan's ocean, with encounters built around ritual mechanics. The final boss is Šimmumah ur-Nokru, and The Navigator is the exotic. It is a good second or third dungeon to learn.
Warlord's Ruin
A Scorn dungeon in the EDZ with mountain climbs between encounters. Hefnd's Vengeance is the final boss, and Buried Bloodline, a Void sidearm, is the exotic. Keep your fireteam together on the climbs; falling is a common wipe.
Vesper's Host
A space station dungeon above Europa where the mechanics reward clear communication about what each player sees and where they are. The final boss is The Corrupted Puppeteer, and Ice Breaker is the exotic sniper.
Sundered Doctrine
A symbol-heavy dungeon in Savathûn's Throne World that leans on puzzles and lenses. The final boss is Kerrev, the Erased, and Finality's Auger, a Solar linear fusion rifle, is the exotic. Expect to spend time learning the symbol system.
Equilibrium
The newest dungeon, released December 13, 2025 with Renegades, set in a Venus temple. You face Harrow, Dredgen-Apprentice, and then Dredgen Sere. Heirloom, a Solar combat bow, is the exotic, and a sparrow is tied to a flawless fireteam clear.

What loot and rewards can you get?
Each dungeon has its own weapon and armor set. Encounter chests give a chance at those items, and higher difficulty and the weekly featured slot raise the tier of what drops. Players and community trackers report that the featured dungeon pays top-tier gear on Standard, while non-featured dungeons need Master for the best tier.
- Exotics: most dungeons can drop an exotic from the final chest, usually limited to one chance per character per week, with triumphs that improve the odds. You might get it on the first run, or it might take many weeks.
- Quest exotics: Wish-Ender, Xenophage and Gjallarhorn come from quests, not random boss drops.
- Triumphs and emblems: each dungeon has solo, flawless and solo-flawless triumphs that unlock emblems and count toward titles.
- Classic dungeons are worth farming again: since Monument of Triumph, older raids and dungeons drop tiered gear, so they are no longer just for collections.
No one can guarantee a specific weapon roll or exotic drop. Treat loot as a chance, not a promise.
Tips to clear dungeons faster
- Run the featured dungeon. It gives the best loot for the lowest difficulty that week.
- Learn one dungeon at a time. Repeating the same dungeon three or four times builds confidence faster than hopping.
- Bring a healing or overshield build. Staying alive matters more than raw damage in a three-player team.
- Agree on callouts. Use short names for rooms, plates and symbols before the first wipe.
- Save supers for damage. Most wipes in the damage phase come from players who used their super on adds.
- Check checkpoints. Use a checkpoint from a friend if you only need the final boss for the exotic chance.
- Try Standard before Master. Master adds tougher enemies and modifiers; learn the mechanics first.
- Read the latest changes. Our patch notes page tracks the latest hotfixes, and coming soon lists upcoming events.
How can Boosting Games help?
If you want a first clear, a Master clear or an exotic attempt without hunting for a group, we run Destiny 2 dungeons with you or for you. Prices below are starting prices as of October 2026, and the exact price for the dungeon and difficulty you pick shows before checkout. Every option is in the Destiny 2 services collection.
| Service | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Destiny 2 Dungeon Clear | A full clear of the dungeon you pick, on Standard or on Master where the dungeon has it | From $15 |
| Destiny 2 Endgame Bundle | One raid clear, one dungeon clear and one Grandmaster Nightfall | From $59 |
| Destiny 2 Grandmaster Nightfall Carry | Grandmaster Nightfall clears from that week's playlist | From $15 |
Exotic drops follow the game's own odds, so a clear is never a promise of a specific item. You can play along in our fireteam on your own Guardian or choose a piloted clear. Our how it works page explains every step from checkout to the finished order.
Honest risk note: Bungie's terms do not allow account sharing, and Bungie can act against accounts that break its rules, including for paid boosting. Piloted clears, where a booster logs in, carry the most risk. Playing along in our fireteam on your own Guardian carries less, and coaching carries none. Read our account safety page before you order. We never sell accounts, Glimmer or other currency, items, cheats or mods.

Destiny 2 dungeons FAQ
How many dungeons are in Destiny 2?
There are 11 dungeons as of October 2026: The Shattered Throne, Pit of Heresy, Prophecy, Grasp of Avarice, Duality, Spire of the Watcher, Ghosts of the Deep, Warlord's Ruin, Vesper's Host, Sundered Doctrine and Equilibrium. Equilibrium, released with Renegades in December 2025, is the newest. Bungie's final content update in June 2026 did not add a new dungeon, so this list is not expected to grow.
Do I need to buy dungeons in Destiny 2?
Yes. Each dungeon needs the expansion it launched with or its Dungeon Key. Destiny 2: The Collection, released on June 9, 2026, includes the Dungeon Keys, and keys are also sold in Eververse. Without ownership, the dungeon will not launch from the Raids and Dungeons node, even if your friends own it.
Can you solo Destiny 2 dungeons?
Yes. Dungeons allow one to three players, and each has solo and solo-flawless triumphs with their own emblems. Soloing takes a strong survivability build, a good damage plan and a lot of patience, especially on newer dungeons such as Sundered Doctrine and Equilibrium. Most players learn a dungeon in a group first, then try it alone.
What is the featured dungeon?
Each week one dungeon and one raid are featured in a rotation. The featured dungeon gives better loot on Standard difficulty than a non-featured one, and community trackers report that it pays top-tier gear without needing Master. Other dungeons can still be played any week from the Raids and Dungeons node if you own them.
Which Destiny 2 dungeon is the easiest?
Older dungeons such as Prophecy, Pit of Heresy and The Shattered Throne are usually seen as the gentlest, because their mechanics are simpler and they are tuned for older power levels. Grasp of Avarice and Ghosts of the Deep are common next steps. Vesper's Host, Sundered Doctrine and Equilibrium are generally considered harder because of their newer mechanics.
Will a dungeon carry get my exotic?
Not guaranteed. A carry gets you the clear and the chance at the final chest, but exotic drops are random and usually limited to one chance per character per week. Triumphs can improve your odds over time. Quest exotics like Gjallarhorn or Wish-Ender need their quest steps done, not just a clear.
