TBC Anniversary realms now have every raid from Karazhan to Black Temple open, and Zul'Aman arrives on October 22, 2026. Reach level 70, finish the Karazhan key and any remaining attunements, then join a 10-player or 25-player group. Lockouts are weekly, except Zul'Aman's 3-day reset. Rewards are tier sets and Badge-level upgrades.

What raids are open in TBC Anniversary?

The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms launched in early 2026 and follow the original content patches in phases. As of October 22, 2026 the realms are in Phase 3 with the Zul'Aman update, which Blizzard calls The Gods of Zul'Aman. Sunwell Plateau has not been released and has no date yet.

Raid Phase Size Bosses Lockout
Karazhan 1 (raids opened February 19, 2026) 10 11 including Nightbane Weekly
Gruul's Lair 1 25 2 Weekly
Magtheridon's Lair 1 25 1 Weekly
Serpentshrine Cavern 2 (May 14, 2026) 25 6 Weekly
Tempest Keep: The Eye 2 (May 14, 2026) 25 4 Weekly
Battle for Mount Hyjal 3 (August 27, 2026) 25 5 Weekly
Black Temple 3 (August 27, 2026) 25 9 Weekly
Zul'Aman 3 update (October 22, 2026) 10 6 3 days

All raids are level 70 and have one difficulty. Rewards are Tier 4 (Karazhan, Gruul, Magtheridon), Tier 5 (Serpentshrine and The Eye) and Tier 6 (Hyjal and Black Temple) armour tokens, plus weapons, trinkets and other gear. Serpentshrine and The Eye launched in their later, easier tuning, the same as the Phase 1 raids. For upcoming phases see our coming soon page and the latest patch notes.

How do you unlock each TBC raid?

Attunements on Anniversary realms are mostly account-wide, so you do each one once per account. Here is the route from a fresh level 70:

  1. Reach level 70 and pick up the Karazhan key chain from Archmage Alturus outside Karazhan in Deadwind Pass. It sends you through several Outland dungeons and ends with The Master's Key.
  2. Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair need no key. Gruul is in the Blade's Edge Mountains; Magtheridon is under Hellfire Citadel in Hellfire Peninsula.
  3. Check the Serpentshrine and The Eye quest status on your account. In the original release they had their own attunement chains, so confirm in game before raid night.
  4. Mount Hyjal and Black Temple no longer need attunement as of the October 22, 2026 update. Hyjal is entered through the Caverns of Time in Tanaris; Black Temple is at the east edge of Shadowmoon Valley.
  5. Zul'Aman has no attunement. Travel to the east of the Ghostlands in Eastern Kingdoms and enter with a 10-player group.

What do you need before you start?

  • Gear: heroic dungeon blues and Badge of Justice gear are enough for Karazhan, Gruul and Magtheridon. The October 22 update makes heroics easier and adds stronger Badge items from G'eras in Shattrath, so catching up is faster than before.
  • Resistance gear: a few fights (for example High King Maulgar's mage add, and Mother Shahraz in Black Temple) are easier with resistance gear for some players. Your raid leader will tell you if you need it.
  • Consumables: flasks or elixirs, food buffs, potions, weapon oils or stones. Classic raids reward full buffs more than modern WoW.
  • Composition: Karazhan and Zul'Aman need about two tanks, three healers and five damage dealers. 25-player raids want three or more tanks, six to eight healers and a mix of buff classes.
  • Tools: use add-ons Blizzard's interface allows, such as boss timers and threat meters. Never use automation or cheats.

Boss-by-boss overview

A short overview in our own words. Use it to know your job, not as a full strategy.

Karazhan

Eleven encounters: Attumen the Huntsman, Moroes, Maiden of Virtue, the Opera event, The Curator, Shade of Aran, Terestian Illhoof, Netherspite, the Chess event, Prince Malchezaar and the optional Nightbane. Tanks handle adds on Moroes and Illhoof, healers must survive Maiden's silences, and everyone needs movement discipline on Aran and Prince.

Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair

High King Maulgar is a council of five that needs several tanks. Gruul gets stronger over time, so damage matters, and the raid spreads for his shatter attack. On Magtheridon, five players click cubes together to stop his blast wave, so assign clickers early.

Serpentshrine Cavern

Hydross the Unstable, The Lurker Below, Leotheras the Blind, Fathom-Lord Karathress, Morogrim Tidewalker and Lady Vashj. Expect tank swaps on Hydross, swimming and dodging on Lurker, and a multi-phase finale on Vashj where the raid passes cores to drop her shield.

Tempest Keep: The Eye

Al'ar, Void Reaver, High Astromancer Solarian and Kael'thas Sunstrider. Void Reaver is a simple first kill. Kael'thas is a long, five-phase fight with advisors and legendary weapons the raid must pick up and use.

Battle for Mount Hyjal

Five bosses after waves of enemies: Rage Winterchill, Anetheron, Kaz'rogal, Azgalor and Archimonde. Trash waves are part of the challenge, so area damage and steady tanking matter. Archimonde needs careful movement from fire.

Black Temple

Nine bosses: High Warlord Naj'entus, Supremus, Shade of Akama, Teron Gorefiend, Gurtogg Bloodboil, Reliquary of Souls, Mother Shahraz, the Illidari Council and Illidan Stormrage. Illidan is a multi-phase finale and can drop the Warglaives of Azzinoth.

Zul'Aman

Four animal-god lieutenants (Nalorakk, Akil'zon, Jan'alai and Halazzi), then Hex Lord Malacrass and Zul'jin. A timer runs from the start; each lieutenant killed rescues a hostage, adds loot and extends the timer. Rescue all hostages in time to earn the Amani War Bear mount.

What loot and rewards can you get?

Every boss drop is random, so plan around what you might get rather than what you will get.

  • Tier tokens: Tier 4, 5 and 6 tokens for the set pieces of your class. Blizzard said extra tier tokens drop in the Phase 3 raids on Anniversary realms.
  • Badges of Justice: after the October 22 update, every boss in Karazhan, Gruul, Magtheridon, Serpentshrine, The Eye and Zul'Aman can drop Badges, which buy gear at G'eras in Shattrath.
  • Notable items: the Warglaives of Azzinoth from Illidan, Ashes of Al'ar from Kael'thas, and the Fiery Warhorse's Reins from Attumen are famous rare drops.
  • Zul'Aman extras: each hostage rescued adds a loot chest, and a full timed run gives the Amani War Bear.
  • Epic gems: Black Temple and Hyjal give access to epic gems, and Magtheridon's gem sack can now contain them.

Tips to clear it faster

  1. Finish the Karazhan key early. It gates your first raid and takes several dungeons.
  2. Farm Badges in heroics. With the easier tuning, Badge gear is the fastest catch-up path.
  3. Do Zul'Aman with a fixed ten. A group that knows the route has a much better chance of the timed bear.
  4. Pull trash with area damage on Hyjal. Waves are where most time is lost.
  5. Assign jobs before pulling. Cube clickers on Magtheridon, core passers on Vashj and add tanks on Maulgar.
  6. Bring full consumables. Classic tuning rewards buffs heavily.
  7. Clear Black Temple's early bosses for gear even if Illidan is out of reach for your group yet.

TBC Anniversary raid FAQ

When does Zul'Aman open in TBC Anniversary?

Zul'Aman opens on October 22, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PDT on Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms. It is a 10-player, level 70 raid in the Ghostlands with six bosses, no attunement and a 3-day lockout. The same update removes the Hyjal and Black Temple attunements, lowers heroic key requirements to Honored and makes heroics easier.

Is Sunwell Plateau out in TBC Anniversary?

Not yet. Sunwell Plateau, the Isle of Quel'Danas and Magisters' Terrace make up the final phase, and Blizzard had not announced a date as of October 22, 2026. Black Temple, Mount Hyjal and Zul'Aman are the current top raids. Watch Blizzard's news and the Classic forums for the official announcement.

Do you still need attunement for Black Temple?

No. As of the October 22, 2026 update, Black Temple and the Battle for Mount Hyjal no longer require attunement on Anniversary realms. Any level 70 character can enter with a raid group. Karazhan still uses its key questline, and most Anniversary attunements are account-wide, so you only need to complete them once.

How do you get the Amani War Bear?

Clear Zul'Aman's timed event. A timer starts when the raid begins, and each of the four animal-god lieutenants you defeat rescues a hostage, adds loot and extends the timer. Rescue all four hostages before time runs out and the final chest awards the Amani War Bear. You can still finish the raid if the timer expires, but without the mount.

How often do TBC raids reset?

Karazhan and the 25-player raids, Gruul, Magtheridon, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, Mount Hyjal and Black Temple, reset weekly. Zul'Aman uses a 3-day lockout, so you can run it more than once a week. Plan your raid nights around the weekly reset in your region.

What gear do you need for Karazhan?

Heroic dungeon blues, crafted pieces and Badge of Justice gear are enough for Karazhan. Many guilds also start Gruul and Magtheridon in the same gear. After the October 22 update, heroics are easier and more raid bosses drop Badges, so a fresh level 70 can catch up faster than earlier in the expansion.
