World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Anniversary is Blizzard's subscription re-run of the 2007 expansion on Classic Anniversary realms. You level to 70 in Outland, then gear up through dungeons, raids and arena. There is no final win: you win by clearing raid bosses, beating arena teams and climbing rating each season.
What is WoW TBC Anniversary?
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Anniversary is Blizzard Entertainment's re-run of the 2007 expansion on the Classic Anniversary realms. Those realms moved from the original game into The Burning Crusade with a pre-patch on January 13, 2026, and the Dark Portal opened on February 5, 2026. Your characters carry over, and you can now push past level 60 into Outland.
It is not a separate purchase. Any active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time lets you play every Classic version, including this one, alongside the modern game. It runs on Windows and macOS through the Battle.net app. If you are new to the series, our beginner guide to World of Warcraft explains the shared basics.

Zul'Aman is due on October 22, 2026. Sunwell Plateau, the final raid, is listed by Blizzard only as later in 2026 and had no date as of mid-October.
What is the objective of WoW TBC Anniversary?
There is no single finish line. The Burning Crusade is a persistent online world, so the overall goal is to build a level 70 character that can take on the hardest content you care about and to keep improving that character with better gear, reputation and skill.
A session usually has one clear aim: finish a run of quests in an Outland zone, clear a five-player dungeon, raise a faction's reputation to unlock a heroic key, kill bosses in a raid with your guild, or play a block of arena games for rating. The broad stages look like this:
- Level 60 to 70 in Outland, where a new character first steps through the Dark Portal.
- Dungeons and heroics, unlocked by earning reputation with local factions.
- Raids, starting with 10-player Karazhan and moving up to larger 25-player raids.
- PvP in battlegrounds and rated arena.
How do you win in WoW TBC Anniversary?
Because it is an MMO, "winning" depends on what you are playing. Some activities have a clear victory screen, while others are about finishing content and collecting rewards over many weeks. Here is an honest breakdown.
| Mode | Team size | How you win |
|---|---|---|
| Leveling and quests | Solo or small group | Reach level 70 and finish the zone stories you want |
| Normal and heroic dungeons | 5 players | Defeat the final boss of the dungeon |
| Raids | 10 (Karazhan, Zul'Aman) or 25 players | Defeat every boss in the raid; each lockout resets weekly |
| Arena | 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 | Be the last team with a player standing; wins raise your team rating |
| Battlegrounds | Team vs team | Complete the map's objective, such as capturing flags or holding bases |
For most players, the long-term win is clearing the current raid tier with a guild or reaching an arena rating that unlocks the gear and titles you are after. Raid progress is measured boss by boss, and arena progress is measured in rating points over a season.
How does ranked or progression work?
Progression in TBC Anniversary is gear-based. Each raid tier drops stronger armor, and many raids and heroic dungeons are gated behind attunement quest chains or reputation keys, so you unlock content step by step rather than all at once.
Arena is the ranked ladder. Each season, your team rating rises with wins and falls with losses in the 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 brackets, and higher ratings unlock better rewards. Seasons line up with the content phases, so Season 3 runs alongside Black Temple and Mount Hyjal. Beginner tips to win more
- Pick a role early. Tanks and healers find dungeon groups much faster than damage dealers.
- Start key reputations while leveling. Heroic keys come from faction reputation, so running dungeons tied to those factions saves time later.
- Do your attunements once, properly. Raid access in this expansion depends on quest chains, and skipping steps blocks you from your guild's raids.
- Save gold for flying. Flying at 70 needs the riding skill, and it speeds up questing, gathering and daily quests.
- Join a guild that matches your schedule. A steady raid team matters more than a famous name.
- Learn one arena partner. In 2v2, practicing with the same teammate teaches you more than queueing with strangers.
- Use consumables in raids. Flasks, food and gems add up, and many guilds expect them.

Honest risk note: Blizzard's terms forbid sharing your Battle.net account, and Blizzard does not allow paid boosting that involves someone else logging in to your character. Piloted orders, where a booster plays on your account, carry the most risk. Playing alongside a booster in your own group carries less, and coaching carries none because nobody touches your account. Please read our account safety notice before ordering. We never sell accounts, gold, items, cheats or mods.

Do I need to buy The Burning Crusade Anniversary separately?
No. An active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time gives you access to every Classic version, including the Burning Crusade Anniversary realms, plus the modern game. There is no separate box to buy. If your subscription lapses, you lose access to all versions until you renew it, but your characters stay saved on the realm.
What is the level cap in TBC Anniversary?
The level cap is 70. Characters arrive in Outland at level 58 or higher by walking through the Dark Portal, then quest and run dungeons up to 70. Reaching the cap opens heroic dungeons, raids, arena rewards and daily quests, and you can buy the riding skill that lets you fly in Outland.
What phase is TBC Anniversary in right now?
As of October 2026, the realms are in Phase 3, which opened on August 27, 2026 with Black Temple and the Battle for Mount Hyjal. Arena Season 3 started in early September. Zul'Aman is scheduled for October 22, 2026, and Sunwell Plateau has no confirmed date yet beyond Blizzard's later in 2026 note.
How do you win in arena?
An arena match ends when every player on one team is dead, so the winning team is the one with someone still standing. Teams play in 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 brackets. Wins add rating and losses remove it, and a higher rating at the right point in the season unlocks better gear and rewards.
Is TBC Anniversary good for beginners?
Yes, if you enjoy a slower pace. Leveling from 60 to 70 in Outland is guided by quests, and dungeons teach group play before raids. The difficulty climbs with attunements, reputation keys and tougher raids, so newer players do best by joining a friendly guild and learning one role well before chasing the hardest content.
What raids are in TBC Anniversary?
Karazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair opened first, followed by Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep in Phase 2. Phase 3 added Black Temple and the Battle for Mount Hyjal. Zul'Aman is due on October 22, 2026, and Sunwell Plateau is planned as the final raid with no confirmed date as of October 2026.
