Brawl Stars is a free mobile hero shooter from Supercell for Android and iOS. You control one Brawler in quick matches, mostly 3v3 team modes plus Showdown battle royale. Each mode has its own goal, such as holding ten gems, scoring two goals or being the last one standing, and meeting that goal wins.
What is Brawl Stars?
Brawl Stars is a top-down action game where each player picks a Brawler, a character with its own attack, Super, Gadgets and Star Powers. Supercell, the studio behind Clash Royale and Clash of Clans, released it worldwide on December 12, 2018. It is on Android and iOS, free to download, and sells optional items such as the Brawl Pass and skins.
Supercell says most matches last under three minutes, which is why it suits short sessions. As of October 2026 the game is running its Brawl-O-Ween event, and the latest release notes added two new Brawlers, Cosmo and Vince, plus a Hide & Seek mode.

What is the objective of Brawl Stars?
Across your whole account, the aim is to unlock more Brawlers, power them up, earn trophies and climb Ranked. Each Brawler keeps its own trophy count, so pushing one Brawler up is a goal on its own.
Inside a single match, the objective depends on the mode. Most modes put you on a team of three with a clear task: grab gems, score a ball, crack a safe, hold a zone or win rounds. Showdown is different. It drops up to ten players onto a shrinking map, and you try to outlast everyone else.
How do you win a match in Brawl Stars?
Winning means completing the mode's goal before the other side does. Here are the core modes and how each one is won.
| Mode | Team size | How you win |
|---|---|---|
| Gem Grab | 3v3 | Hold at least ten gems as a team for a 15-second countdown |
| Brawl Ball | 3v3 | Score two goals, or lead when time runs out |
| Heist | 3v3 | Destroy the enemy safe first, while protecting your own |
| Bounty | 3v3 | Have more stars from defeats when time ends; streaks are worth more |
| Hot Zone | 3v3 | Stand in the zones until your team fills the meter first |
| Knockout | 3v3 | Defeat the whole enemy team with no respawns; best of three rounds |
| Showdown | Solo, duo or trio | Be the last player or team left as the poison cloud closes in |
| Duels | 1v1 | Beat all three of the opponent's Brawlers in turn |
Other modes and modifiers rotate in and out. The newest is Hide & Seek, where one Seeker hunts three Hiders over four short rounds. Events such as boss fights also appear during seasonal content.
How do trophies and Ranked work in Brawl Stars?
Trophies are earned per Brawler in normal matches. You gain trophies for wins and lose some for losses, and losses get more expensive as a Brawler climbs. Supercell resets high trophy counts at the end of each season, so the race starts again regularly.
Ranked, which replaced the old Power League, uses a separate score. It unlocks at 1,000 total trophies. The ranks are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Mythic, Legendary and Masters, each with three tiers, then a single top rank called Pro. Lower ranks play single matches with no bans. Bans start in Diamond, and from Mythic up you play best-of-three with a full draft. Higher ranks also require more Brawlers at high power levels: for example, twelve Brawlers at Power 11 to enter Mythic. Ranked wins also feed the Pro Pass, a four-month reward track tied to esports seasons.

Beginner tips to win more in Brawl Stars
- Play the objective. Defeats matter only if they help you hold gems, score or protect the safe.
- Pick for the map. Long-range Brawlers shine on open maps, while tanks and short-range Brawlers want bushes and walls.
- Charge your Super. Land basic attacks to build your Super, then save it for a key moment.
- Do not all die at once. In 3v3 modes, falling back to heal is often better than a risky trade.
- Check the bushes. Hidden enemies love bushes. Shoot into them before walking through.
- Carry the gems safely. In Gem Grab, the player holding the gems should stay back once the team has ten.
- Focus a few Brawlers. Upgrading a small group gets you ready for Ranked faster than spreading resources thin.
- Use the in-game chat pins. Quick pins help random teammates group up and push together.

Honest risk note: Supercell's terms say you must not share your account or login, or let anyone else access it, and they ban any manipulation of rankings. Supercell can suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Piloted orders, where a booster plays on your account, carry the most risk. Playing wins together with a pro keeps your login with you and carries less, and coaching carries none. Read our account safety notice before you order. We never sell accounts, gems, coins, Brawlers, items, cheats or mods.

Brawl Stars FAQ
Is Brawl Stars free to play?
Yes. Brawl Stars is free to download on Android and iOS, and every mode can be played without paying. Supercell sells optional items such as gems, skins, the paid Brawl Pass and the paid Pro Pass track. Free players unlock new Brawlers and upgrades through normal play and passes, so spending mainly speeds things up and adds cosmetics.
How long is a Brawl Stars match?
Most matches are short. Supercell describes them as lasting under three minutes, and many modes, such as Brawl Ball, have a timer of about two minutes plus overtime if the score is level. Knockout can take a little longer because it is best of three rounds, and Ranked games from Mythic up are best of three matches with a draft first.
When does Ranked unlock in Brawl Stars?
Ranked unlocks once your account reaches 1,000 total trophies. After that, each rank needs enough strong Brawlers. Bronze to Gold need a few Brawlers at Power 9, Diamond needs nine at Power 9, and Mythic and above need twelve Brawlers at Power 11. Ranked uses its own score, so playing it does not change your trophies.
What is the best mode for Brawl Stars beginners?
Gem Grab and Brawl Ball are good places to start, because the goal is easy to see and teammates can cover your mistakes. Solo Showdown teaches you to aim and dodge, but your result depends only on you. Try a few modes in normal matches before Ranked, since Ranked rotates through several 3v3 modes and maps.
What is the highest rank in Brawl Stars?
Pro is the highest rank. It sits above Masters and has no sub-tiers. Below it are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Mythic, Legendary and Masters, each split into three tiers. Reaching the upper ranks takes a deep pool of upgraded Brawlers and strong drafting, because higher ranks use bans and best-of-three series.
Do you lose trophies when you lose in Brawl Stars?
Usually, yes. Each loss takes some trophies from the Brawler you used, and the amount grows as that Brawler's trophy count goes up. Supercell made losses gentler below 1,000 trophies, so early progress is forgiving. Brawlers above 1,000 trophies are also reset back down when a trophy season ends, so the climb starts again each season and big pushes are best planned early.
