Path of Exile 2's top pinnacle boss in patch 0.5 is the Arbiter of Divinity, at the heart of the Precursor Fortress on the Atlas. You reach it by starting a Precursor Tower, beating the Arbiter of Ash and finishing the Origin Tower. Bring capped resistances, high life and a fast-clearing build; rewards include Atlas points and rare uniques.

What are the PoE 2 pinnacle bosses?

Pinnacle bosses are the hardest fights in Path of Exile 2's endgame, the Atlas of Worlds. Patch 0.5, Return of the Ancients, launched on May 29, 2026 and rebuilt the endgame around a Precursor Fortress that rises on your Atlas. The Arbiter of Ash is no longer the final boss: that role now belongs to the Arbiter of Divinity at the center of the Fortress. Each core league mechanic also keeps its own pinnacle. Grinding Gear Games has set the full 1.0 launch for December 11, 2026, so expect the endgame to change again then; see coming soon for what we know.

Boss Where it comes from How you open it Party size Why players fight it
Arbiter of Divinity Center of the Precursor Fortress Origin Tower questline; later fights need keys from Citadels 1 to 6 Final pinnacle, completes a Fortress section and its Atlas points
Arbiter of Ash Burning Monolith in the Fortress Fragments from the Enigma Chamber bosses; later from Citadels 1 to 6 Unlocks the next Fortress steps and Atlas progress
Xesht, We That Are One Breach A Breachstone made from Breach Splinters, used in the Realmgate 1 to 6 Breach uniques and Atlas points
The Simulacrum bosses Delirium A Simulacrum made from Simulacrum Splinters, used in the Realmgate 1 to 6 Delirium rewards and Atlas points
The King in the Mists Ritual Offer enough Tribute at Ritual altars to earn an audience 1 to 6 Ritual uniques and Omens
Olroth Expedition Found through Expedition Logbooks 1 to 6 Expedition rewards and Atlas points

There is no weekly lockout like in an MMO raid. The limit is your entry items: keys, fragments and splinters are used up when you open the fight, so a failed attempt costs you the item. New to the game? Start with what is Path of Exile 2 and how do you win.

How do you unlock the Arbiter of Divinity?

The first route through the Fortress is a questline called Origins of Divinity. From a finished campaign, it runs like this:

  1. Finish the campaign and enter the Atlas. Run your first Waystones until you find a Precursor Tower.
  2. Activate a Precursor Tower. Interacting with it raises the walls that form the Fortress on your Atlas. Clearing the map areas inside each walled section gives Atlas passive points.
  3. Clear the western and eastern Enigma Chambers. Each side has a gateway. Inside wait stronger versions of two campaign bosses, Count Geonor and Doryani.
  4. Take their fragments to the Burning Monolith. Use them to fight the Arbiter of Ash. Your first Arbiter of Ash spawns are at fixed Fortress locations.
  5. Enter the Origin Tower. Clear the Patriarch Hall and the Matriarch Hall and defeat their bosses to get the Origin Spark and the Origin Cradle.
  6. Power the Precursor Reactor. Place both items in the reactor at the Origin Engine, activate it and climb the tower.
  7. Fight the Arbiter of Divinity. The first fight is a quest version that is easier than later ones. Repeat fights need keys that you earn from Citadels on the Atlas.

Beating the Arbiter of Divinity lets you auto-complete one Fortress section and collect its remaining Atlas passive points, which is why players come back to it. Our Atlas progression boost covers the earlier steps if you are stuck before the fight.

What do you need before you start?

Pinnacle fights in PoE 2 are tests of survival first and damage second. Before you spend a key:

  • Capped elemental resistances after the endgame penalty, plus as much chaos resistance as you can fit.
  • A healthy life or energy shield pool and at least one layer of defense such as armour, evasion or block.
  • Enough single-target damage to kill the boss before its harder attack patterns stack up. If maps at your tier feel slow, the boss will be worse.
  • Movement you trust. Know your dodge roll and which slams you can roll through.
  • Flasks and charms that answer freezes, stuns and bleeds.

For parties, one player with strong damage and a second who brings auras, curses or other support works well, and up to six players can join. Use only tools Grinding Gear Games allows, such as the official trade site, Path of Building and community wikis; never macros or programs that play for you.

Boss-by-boss overview

Arbiter of Divinity

The new pinnacle at the heart of the Fortress. Learn its wind-ups rather than relying on ground markers, keep your dodge roll for the big hits and stay close enough to keep damage going. Survival matters more than raw damage on early attempts.

Arbiter of Ash

A fire and ash fight with large area attacks. Keep moving around the edge of the arena, watch for the slams that leave burning ground, and spend damage windows when it finishes a big combo.

Xesht, We That Are One

The Breach pinnacle, fought in a timed domain after you use a Breachstone. Clear quickly to reach the boss with time to spare, then spend the rest of the timer on the boss while dodging its large area attacks.

The Simulacrum

The Delirium pinnacle is a wave fight. Monsters get harder each wave and named Delirium bosses appear inside it, so pace your flasks and do not chase every pack.

The King in the Mists

The Ritual pinnacle. You buy an audience with tribute from Ritual altars. Collect tribute over several maps first, and learn its attacks on an early attempt before you rely on a farm.

Olroth

The Expedition pinnacle. Use Expedition Logbooks to find the site, then manage explosives and the remnants that buff enemies before the boss arena.

What loot and rewards can you get?

Pinnacle rewards are random. What you might get:

  • Atlas passive points, the most reliable reward, from Fortress sections and mechanic pinnacles.
  • Boss-specific uniques, including rare drops that are some of the most valuable items in the league.
  • Currency and crafting materials such as Omens from Ritual and Delirium rewards.
  • Keys and fragments for the next, harder version of a fight.

Patch 0.5 also added Masters of the Atlas, with options that change map behavior. One example trades your attempts at a pinnacle boss for more unique drops, so read your choices before you spend points. For the latest hotfix changes, check our latest patch notes page.

Tips to clear PoE 2 pinnacle bosses faster

  1. Practice on the quest version of the Arbiter of Divinity before spending Citadel keys.
  2. Upgrade defenses before damage. Most failed attempts are one-shots, not timeouts.
  3. Watch one video per boss so you can recognize the attacks that kill you.
  4. Save fragments and splinters until you can clear your current map tier quickly and safely.
  5. Party up for the first kills; a second player can revive you and split the boss's attention.
  6. Spend Atlas points on the mechanic whose pinnacle you are farming.
  7. Check new hotfixes before a big attempt: boss tuning has changed several times in 0.5.

PoE 2 pinnacle bosses FAQ

What is the hardest pinnacle boss in PoE 2?

As of patch 0.5, the Arbiter of Divinity is the hardest regular pinnacle boss. It sits at the center of the Precursor Fortress and replaced the Arbiter of Ash as the final Atlas boss. The first fight is an easier quest version, and later fights, which need keys from Citadels, are harder. Higher difficulty levels of the mechanic pinnacles can also be very demanding.

How do you get to the Arbiter of Divinity?

Activate a Precursor Tower to raise the Fortress, beat the Enigma Chamber bosses in the west and east, and use their fragments at the Burning Monolith to defeat the Arbiter of Ash. Then clear the Patriarch and Matriarch Halls in the Origin Tower, put the Origin Spark and Origin Cradle into the Precursor Reactor, and climb to the final arena.

Is the Arbiter of Ash still in PoE 2?

Yes. The Arbiter of Ash is still in the game in patch 0.5, but it is no longer the final pinnacle boss. You fight it at the Burning Monolith as a step on the way to the Arbiter of Divinity. Your first Arbiter of Ash fights happen at fixed spots in the Fortress, and later ones come from Citadels on the Atlas.

What gear do I need for PoE 2 pinnacle bosses?

Cap your elemental resistances after the endgame penalty, add chaos resistance, and build a solid life or energy shield pool with a defensive layer such as armour, evasion or block. You also need enough single-target damage to end the fight before its harder attacks pile up. If you are struggling in maps of your tier, improve your character before spending keys.

Will PoE 2 1.0 change pinnacle bosses?

Probably. Grinding Gear Games has set the full 1.0 release, which ends early access and makes the game free to play, for December 11, 2026. It adds the final acts and the Duelist class. The developer has not detailed every endgame change, so treat boss unlock routes in this guide as correct for patch 0.5 and subject to change.

Is a PoE 2 boss carry safe for my account?

No paid carry is completely free of risk. Grinding Gear Games' terms forbid letting others access your account and forbid paid in-game services. Piloted carries carry the most risk because someone else logs in. Self-play, where you play your own character in our party, carries less, and coaching carries none.
