Arch-Tempered hunts are Monster Hunter Wilds' hardest fights: 10-star quests for HR 100 and up that can drop Battle-tempered Emblems for Gogma Artian weapons. Gogmazios, from Title Update 4, unlocks through an extra mission at HR 100. Bring fire or dragon weapons, Transcendent armor and a full party of four.
What are Tempered and Arch-Tempered hunts?
Monster Hunter Wilds has three steps of endgame difficulty above normal High Rank. Tempered monsters are stronger, faster versions of regular monsters that start appearing once you reach High Rank. 9-star hunts, added in Version 1.021, push the same monsters further and pay out Glowing Stones. Arch-Tempered hunts sit at the top as 10-star quests with the most health and damage in the game. Gogmazios, the oil-covered elder dragon added in Title Update 4, is a separate HR 100 fight with three distinct phases.
| Detail | Tempered / 9-star | Arch-Tempered (10-star) | Gogmazios |
|---|---|---|---|
| Party size | 1 to 4 hunters | 1 to 4 hunters | 1 to 4 hunters |
| Unlock | High Rank, after the main story | HR 100 for the current 10-star quests | HR 100, then an extra mission |
| Gear check | Strong High Rank set | Optimized Gogma Artian weapon and Transcendent armor | Fire or dragon weapon, high survivability |
| Weekly limit | None | None; some quests arrive as event quests | None |
| Main rewards | Artian parts, multi-skill decorations, Glowing Stones | Chance of Battle-tempered Emblems, Timeworn Charm, gamma armor | Gogmazios materials (random) |
Title Update 4 is widely reported as the last major free content update. The next big step is the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion, announced at Summer Game Fest 2026 for 2027, which needs the base game and a finished story. Track it on our coming soon page and check the latest patch notes for balance changes. New hunters should start with what Monster Hunter Wilds is and how to win.
How do you unlock Arch-Tempered hunts and Gogmazios?
- Finish the main story. This opens High Rank endgame, Tempered monsters in the open world and the later 9-star hunts.
- Farm Tempered hunts. Save Tempered monsters as Investigation Quests so you can repeat them. Use the drops to build Artian weapons.
- Raise Hunter Rank to 100. Every hunt adds HR points; Tempered and higher-star quests add more.
- Take the Gogmazios mission. At HR 100 an extra mission appears that unlocks the Gogmazios fight.
- Open the Event Quests counter. The 10-star Arch-Tempered quests for Arkveld, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra and Jin Dahaad arrived on February 17 to 18, 2026, all at HR 100. Older Arch-Tempered versions of Rey Dau, Uth Duna and Nu Udra came as event quests with lower HR gates. Check the board, because event availability can rotate.
- Use SOS flares. Since Title Update 4, SOS quests can include Arch-Tempered targets, so you can join other hunters' fights.
What do you need before you start?
- Weapon: a Gogma Artian or strong Artian weapon with the right element. For Gogmazios, fire and dragon do the most damage, and fast weapons such as Dual Blades, Long Sword, Switch Axe or Charge Blade make element swaps easier.
- Armor: Transcendent armor upgrades from the Smithy (added in Title Update 4) and a set with Divine Blessing, health or guard skills while you learn the fight.
- Consumables: Mega Potions, Max Potions, demondrug and armorskin, plus cleansing items for status effects.
- Party: four hunters is easiest. Many groups bring one player with guard or support and three focused on damage. Solo players can call in support hunters.
- Traps: elder dragons such as Gogmazios cannot be trapped, so do not waste a slot on traps there.
- Allowed tools: in-game damage numbers, your hunter notes and the training area. Do not use mods that change damage or game files, or cheats of any kind.
Hunt-by-hunt and phase-by-phase overview
This is our own short overview, not a full move list.
Tempered and 9-star hunts
Tempered monsters show visible scars. Hitting scars opens Wounds, and Focus Strikes on Wounds deal big extra damage. On 9-star hunts the monster hits much harder and the time limit is longer, so play safer and spend your Focus Strikes on fresh wounds.
Arch-Tempered Arkveld
The current flagship 10-star hunt, "Freedom from Solitude" in the Ruins of Wyveria. Arkveld has a much bigger health pool and punishes unoptimized sets. Keep your health high, avoid trading hits, and let your support player cover the party during its biggest chain attacks.
Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra and Jin Dahaad
The four guardian-style monsters each have a 10-star quest. Learn each one's big area attack first, because at this level a single hit can cart you. Bring the matching resistance skills and the element each monster is weak to.
Gogmazios phase 1
Target the wingarms or face, starting with fire. Once oil starts dripping from its body, switch to dragon. Stay out of its huge slam, which can down a hunter in one hit, and move behind the head when it sprays oil.
Gogmazios phase 2
The dragon stays mostly in one place. Knock it down to expose the cannon on its back, connect three cables to it as a team, and fire a fully charged shot. This deals huge damage and usually pushes the fight into phase 3.
Gogmazios phase 3
Gogmazios takes to the air. Pick up the blue shards on the ground and use them as slinger ammo, and aim for the tail, which can be cut for extra materials. When the ground glows orange, leave the blast area. If the party passes the damage check, an ally's shield protects you; if not, there is a one-time fallback on the cliff. Restock at camp before this phase if you can.
What loot and rewards can you get?
Most drops are random, so read this as what you might get, not a promise.
- Arch-Tempered hunts: a chance at Battle-tempered Emblems, used to restore and strengthen Gogma Artian weapons, plus a guaranteed Timeworn Charm. The February 2026 update also added gamma armor such as Arkveld γ, crafted with special rewards.
- Tempered hunts: Artian weapon parts, with the best rarity 8 parts coming from top Tempered monsters, plus multi-skill decorations.
- 9-star hunts: Glowing Stones, which are appraised into talismans with random skills.
- Gogmazios: its own materials, with extra rolls if you sever the tail.
There are no weekly lockouts. You can repeat any of these hunts as often as you like.
Tips to clear them faster
- Swap element mid-fight on Gogmazios. Fire early, dragon once it drips oil.
- Use SOS flares. Full parties clear 10-star quests far more reliably than solo hunters.
- Upgrade armor with Transcendence first. More defense buys time to learn patterns.
- Save Investigations. Keep Tempered quests you like so you can farm parts without searching.
- Bring cleansing items. Status effects end many attempts.
- Practise the cannon step. In Gogmazios phase 2, assign who grabs each cable before the hunt.
- Do not fight for every tail. Cut it only if the party is healthy.
- Use the training area. Check your weapon's element damage before a long Arch-Tempered attempt.

Honest risk note: Platform and publisher terms do not allow account sharing, and most forbid paid boosting, so some risk always remains. Piloted hunts, where a booster logs in to your save, carry the most risk. Duo hunts, where you join our lobby on your own account, carry less, and coaching carries none. Read account safety first. We never sell accounts, currency, items, cheats or mods.

Arch-Tempered and Gogmazios FAQ
What HR do you need for Arch-Tempered hunts?
The current 10-star Arch-Tempered quests for Arkveld, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra and Jin Dahaad need Hunter Rank 100. Earlier Arch-Tempered event quests had lower HR gates, but the February 2026 versions all use HR 100. They appear on the Event Quests counter, and SOS flares can also include Arch-Tempered targets.
How do you unlock Gogmazios?
Reach Hunter Rank 100, then accept the extra mission that appears. Finishing it unlocks the Gogmazios hunt, added in Title Update 4 in December 2025. Gogmazios is an elder dragon, so traps do not work, and it fights in three phases that include a cannon you fire as a team.
What is Gogmazios weak to?
Fire and dragon deal the most damage. Many hunters open with fire and switch to dragon once the monster starts dripping oil. For status effects, blast and stun are the useful ones. Fast weapons such as Dual Blades, Long Sword, Switch Axe or Charge Blade make the element swap easier.
What are Battle-tempered Emblems for?
Battle-tempered Emblems restore and strengthen Gogma Artian weapons, the strongest crafted weapons in the game. Arch-Tempered 10-star quests give a chance at Emblems, not a guaranteed one, plus a guaranteed Timeworn Charm. Plan on several clears if you need Emblems for more than one weapon.
Will there be more Arch-Tempered monsters?
Title Update 4 is widely reported as the final major free update, and the February 2026 update added Arch-Tempered Arkveld on top. The next big content is the Ascendance expansion, planned for 2027. Smaller event quests and fixes may still appear, so check the patch notes and Event Quests counter.
Can you do Arch-Tempered hunts solo?
Yes, but they are built to test full parties. Solo hunters can call support hunters, and that helps with tasks such as the cables in the Gogmazios fight. If you keep failing, join SOS flares or play with a coordinated group of four with optimized Artian weapons and Transcendent armor.
