FFXIV Ultimate raids are the hardest 8-player fights in the game. There are seven as of October 2026, the newest being Dancing Mad from patch 7.51. Each unlocks after clearing the final fight of the matching Savage tier and talking to the Wandering Minstrel. Clears give a totem for a glowing weapon, a title and an achievement.
What are FFXIV Ultimate raids?
Ultimates are long, multi-phase fights built for organized eight-player groups. They reuse bosses and ideas from earlier content but add new mechanics, tighter damage checks and late phases that take many minutes of clean play to reach on a single pull. There is no Duty Finder or Raid Finder; you form your own party. Ultimates arrive in the odd-numbered patches of each expansion, and the game is now on patch 7.56 with Evercold due in January 2027.
| Ultimate | Expansion | Level / item level sync | Unlocked by clearing |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Unending Coil of Bahamut | Stormblood | 70 / 345 | Deltascape V4.0 (Savage) |
| The Weapon's Refrain | Stormblood | 70 / 375 | Sigmascape V4.0 (Savage) |
| The Epic of Alexander | Shadowbringers | 80 / 475 | Eden's Gate: Sepulture (Savage) |
| Dragonsong's Reprise | Endwalker | 90 / 605 | Asphodelos: The Fourth Circle (Savage) |
| The Omega Protocol | Endwalker | 90 / 635 | Abyssos: The Eighth Circle (Savage) |
| Futures Rewritten | Dawntrail | 100 / 735 | AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage) |
| Dancing Mad | Dawntrail | 100 / balanced around item level 790 gear | AAC Heavyweight M4 (Savage) |
Key facts for every Ultimate: group size is 8, there is only one difficulty, there is no weekly lockout on clears, and the main rewards are a totem, an achievement, a title and Adventurer Plate items. Limited jobs and free trial accounts cannot enter.
How do you unlock an Ultimate raid?
- Reach the right level. Older Ultimates sync you down, but your job must be at least the fight's level.
- Clear the matching Savage final fight. For Dancing Mad that is AAC Heavyweight M4 (Savage), also called M12S. Our FFXIV Savage and Extreme guide covers that tier.
- Find the Wandering Minstrel. Kugane for the Stormblood and Shadowbringers Ultimates, Old Sharlayan for the Endwalker ones, and Tuliyollal (around X 11.1, Y 14.6) for the Dawntrail ones.
- Accept the quest. It opens the Ultimate in the Duty Finder's high-end tab, though you must enter as a pre-made party.
- Post in Party Finder or join a static. Most players prog with a fixed group and book regular raid nights.
What do you need before you start?
- Solid Savage experience. Ultimates assume you can already clear current Savage cleanly on your job.
- Best-in-slot gear. Item level is synced, but stats still matter. For Dancing Mad, guides assume all eight players wear full item level 790 best-in-slot gear.
- A committed static. Eight people with matching schedules matter more than raw skill. Plan for several nights a week.
- A shared strategy. Agree on one community strat and one set of waymark positions before the first pull.
- Allowed tools only. In-game timers, waymarks and the cooldown display are fine. Third-party plugins and automation break Square Enix's terms and can get you banned.

How do Ultimate raids work, phase by phase?
Every Ultimate is different, but they share a structure. Here is what to expect in general terms.
Early phases
The first phases usually remix bosses from the Savage tier. They teach the fight's tone and are where your group builds consistency. Groups often spend the first week or two here.
Mid-fight transitions
Transitions stack several mechanics at once and often add a damage check on adds. Tanks handle positioning and swaps, healers plan heavy cooldowns, and DPS must hit their burst windows exactly.
Final phases
The last phase is the hardest damage check, often with a hard enrage that ends the pull if the party is a few seconds short. In Dancing Mad the final boss is Kefka.
Dancing Mad (newest)
Released on June 2, 2026 with patch 7.51, Dancing Mad pulls from the Heavyweight tier and Final Fantasy VI. Team DN were reported as the world-first clear. Treat it as the hardest content in the game right now.
What rewards do Ultimate raids give?
- Totem. Each clear gives a totem you trade for a weapon. For Dancing Mad it is the Mad Harlequin's Totem, exchanged for an item level 795 weapon with Uah'shepya in Solution Nine.
- Weapon look. Ultimate weapons have special effects and are among the most prized glamours in the game.
- Title and achievement. Dancing Mad gives the title "Cruel Legend". Each Ultimate has its own.
- Adventurer Plate items that show off your clear.
There is no weekly lockout, so you can clear again on other jobs to earn more totems.
Tips to clear an Ultimate faster
- Pick your static before release and agree on hours you can actually keep.
- Prog in focused blocks: drill one mechanic until it is near perfect.
- Use practice from checkpoints where possible, and review recordings after each night.
- Keep a shared spreadsheet of mitigation, cooldowns and positions.
- Give each player one call they own, so callouts stay clear.
- Rest. Burned-out groups break up; a night off can save the static.
- Start with an older Ultimate such as The Unending Coil of Bahamut to learn the format.
- Track damage with in-game tools only, and focus on uptime more than fancy openers.

Honest risk note: Square Enix's terms do not allow account sharing, and paid boosting breaks the rules of most publishers, including theirs. A piloted Ultimate clear, where a booster logs in to your character, carries the most risk. Self-play, where you join the party on your own character, carries less, and coaching carries none. Read account safety before ordering. We never sell accounts, gil, items, cheats or mods.

How many Ultimate raids are in FFXIV?
There are seven Ultimate raids as of October 2026: The Unending Coil of Bahamut, The Weapon's Refrain, The Epic of Alexander, Dragonsong's Reprise, The Omega Protocol, Futures Rewritten and Dancing Mad. Dancing Mad is the newest; it launched with patch 7.51 on June 2, 2026. The next one is expected some time after the Evercold expansion launches.
How do you unlock Dancing Mad?
Clear AAC Heavyweight M4 (Savage), the final fight of the current Savage tier, on a level 100 job. Then talk to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal to accept the unlock quest. You must enter with a full pre-made party of eight, because Ultimates are not available through Duty Finder matchmaking.
How long does it take to learn an Ultimate?
It varies a lot. World-first teams clear new Ultimates in days of nonstop play. A typical dedicated static that raids a few nights a week often needs several weeks to a few months, and older Ultimates are faster thanks to guides and better gear. Your group's schedule and consistency matter more than any single player's skill.
What do you get for clearing an Ultimate?
You get a totem to trade for a special Ultimate weapon, an achievement, a title and Adventurer Plate items. For Dancing Mad the totem buys an item level 795 weapon and the title is Cruel Legend. Clears have no weekly lockout, so you can repeat the fight on other jobs for more weapons.
Can you do Ultimate raids with Party Finder?
Yes, you can form a group in Party Finder, and many players do for older Ultimates. For new ones, most clears come from statics, fixed groups that progress together for weeks. Party Finder groups break up often, so you may relearn early phases many times. Always read the posted strat before joining.
Is buying an Ultimate clear safe?
No service can promise it is risk-free. Square Enix does not allow account sharing, so a piloted Ultimate clear carries real risk to your account. Self-play, where you play your own character with our group, carries less, and coaching carries none. Read our account safety page and decide what level of risk you accept.
