Clash Royale has two ladders. Trophy Road runs to 14,000 trophies across 32 arenas, and Ranked is a separate monthly mode with seven leagues from Master I to Ultimate Champion. Ranked unlocks at 13,500 trophies in September and October 2026, rising to 14,000 in November, or by reaching Champion the season before.

What is Ranked in Clash Royale?

Clash Royale is Supercell's real-time card battler: two players, two princess towers and a king tower each, and three minutes plus overtime to destroy more towers. If you are just starting, read our what is Clash Royale and how to win guide first.

Competitive play is split in two. Trophy Road is the long-term ladder where every 1v1 win earns trophies and unlocks arenas. Ranked, formerly called Path of Legends, is a separate seasonal mode with its own leagues and a global leaderboard. Supercell has reworked both several times since 2025, so here is where things stand in October 2026.

Fact Clash Royale (October 2026)
Trophy Road Up to 14,000 trophies, 32 arenas (Arena 32 at 13,500)
Seasonal Trophy Road Opens after 14,000; two seasonal arenas that reset each season
Ranked leagues Seven: Master I, Master II, Master III, Champion, Grand Champion, Royal Champion, Ultimate Champion
Ranked unlock 13,500 trophies in September and October 2026; 14,000 from November 2026
Other way in Reach Champion league in the previous Ranked season
Season length About one month
Top reward Ultimate Champion and a place on the global leaderboard

Supercell has said more late-game competitive changes are planned, so check our patch notes page for the latest update and coming soon for upcoming seasons.

What are the Clash Royale arenas and Ranked leagues?

Trophy Road milestones

Trophy Road is a long line of arenas. Each new arena unlocks cards and rewards. The March 2026 update added four arenas at the top, which is why the old 10,000-trophy finish line no longer applies.

Milestone Trophies What it means
Early arenas Below 9,000 Card unlocks, chests and the core game modes
Arena 29 12,000 One of four arenas added in March 2026
Arena 30 12,500 Added in March 2026
Arena 31 13,000 Added in March 2026
Arena 32 13,500 The last arena; also the Ranked requirement in September and October 2026
End of Trophy Road 14,000 Opens the Seasonal Trophy Road; Ranked requirement from November 2026

Ranked leagues

Ranked used to start at Challenger I, but Supercell removed the three Challenger leagues in mid-2025, so everyone now starts at Master I. There are seven leagues in total:

League Order Notes
Master I 1 Starting league for every season
Master II 2 Steps to climb; losses can push you back
Master III 3 Last of the Master leagues
Champion 4 Reaching it keeps Ranked unlocked next season
Grand Champion 5 Win multiplier at the next reset
Royal Champion 6 One step from the top
Ultimate Champion 7 Top league with a rating and the global leaderboard

How do trophies, steps and seasons work?

Trophy Road

Each win on Trophy Road adds trophies and each loss removes some. Your highest arena stays unlocked, so you keep the cards you have earned. Once you finish the road at 14,000, the Seasonal Trophy Road takes over. It has two seasonal arenas: you climb from 0 to 500 seasonal trophies in the first, then move to the second, where your eight most-used cards from the first arena are banned and cards under level 15 are temporarily boosted to 15. The seasonal count resets each season, but your normal Trophy Road progress does not.

Ranked steps

Ranked does not use trophies. Each league is a path of steps. A win moves you forward, and a loss can move you back a step, while some steps hold your place. At Ultimate Champion the steps give way to a rating that decides your spot on the leaderboard.

Seasons and resets

Ranked seasons last about a month. At the start of each season Ranked locks again and players restart at Master I. Strong finishers get a win multiplier that gives extra progress on early wins and shrinks after each one, so a high finish last season makes the re-climb faster. To unlock Ranked you either meet the trophy requirement for that month or reached Champion in the previous season.

The 2026 trophy requirement

Supercell raised the Ranked gate to 14,000 trophies in spring 2026, then lowered it on July 14, 2026 after feedback. The current schedule is 13,000 trophies in July and August, 13,500 in September and October, and 14,000 from November. Increases now happen every two months instead of every season.

How do you climb in Clash Royale?

  1. Finish Trophy Road first. You need 13,500 trophies to open Ranked this month and 14,000 from November, so treat the last arenas as your qualifier.
  2. Pick one deck and stick to it. Choose a deck you understand, ideally one that suits your highest-level cards, and play it until you know every matchup.
  3. Level your deck, not your collection. Spend gold and wild cards on the eight cards you actually play. Spreading resources thin slows your climb.
  4. Learn your win condition timing. Know when to push, when to defend and how much elixir you need for a safe counter-push.
  5. Track elixir. Count the opponent's elixir after big plays. Punishing an overcommit is the easiest way to take a tower.
  6. Aim for Champion. In Ranked, reaching Champion keeps the mode unlocked next season even if your trophies drop.
  7. Use the win multiplier early. If you finished Grand Champion or higher, play your early games in the new season when the multiplier is biggest.
  8. Stop when tilted. Two or three losses in a row is a good signal to take a break before you give back progress.

Tips to climb faster

  1. Watch replays of your losses. Look for the exact card that cost you a tower and plan a better answer.
  2. Do not start a match with your win condition at the bridge. Let the opponent show their deck first.
  3. Use the training modes and friendly battles. Practise a new deck without risking trophies or steps.
  4. Learn the top meta decks. You will face them most, so know each one's weak card.
  5. Use the special slots well. Trophy Road and Ranked have Evo, Hero and Wild slots; put your strongest upgraded cards there.
  6. Play in short sessions. Five to ten games at a time keep your focus high.
  7. Do 2v2 and events for rewards. They help you level cards without risking your ladder progress.
  8. Check each update. Balance changes arrive regularly and can swing your deck's matchups.

Clash Royale ranked FAQ

How many trophies do you need for Ranked in Clash Royale?

In September and October 2026 you need 13,500 trophies to unlock Ranked, and from November 2026 the requirement returns to 14,000. Supercell lowered it to 13,000 on July 14, 2026 and now raises it in 500-trophy steps every two months. You can also keep Ranked unlocked by reaching Champion league in the previous Ranked season, even if your trophies drop.

What are the Ranked leagues in Clash Royale?

There are seven Ranked leagues: Master I, Master II, Master III, Champion, Grand Champion, Royal Champion and Ultimate Champion. Supercell removed the three Challenger leagues in mid-2025, so every season now starts at Master I. Ultimate Champion is the top league, where players are ranked by a rating on the global leaderboard instead of climbing steps.

What is the max trophies on Trophy Road?

Trophy Road now ends at 14,000 trophies. The March 2026 update added four arenas at 12,000, 12,500, 13,000 and 13,500 trophies, making 32 arenas in total. After 14,000 you move to the Seasonal Trophy Road, a separate count with two seasonal arenas that resets every season while your regular trophies stay where they are.

Does Clash Royale Ranked reset every season?

Yes. Ranked seasons last about a month, and at the start of each one the mode locks and players begin again at Master I. Players who finished high get a win multiplier that gives extra progress on their first wins and shrinks after each win, which makes the climb back faster. Your Trophy Road count is not reset.

Is Path of Legends the same as Ranked?

Yes. Path of Legends was renamed Ranked in 2025. The idea is the same: a separate seasonal ladder of leagues with steps, a reset each season and a global leaderboard at the top. The structure has changed, though. The Challenger leagues are gone, the mode starts at Master I and it now needs a trophy requirement or a Champion finish to unlock.

Can a pro help me climb without logging in to my account?

Yes. Coaching and 2v2 duo wins both keep your login with you. In coaching a pro reviews your deck, elixir use and matchups live, and in 2v2 you queue together on your own account. Piloted trophy or league pushes require a booster to log in, which carries the most risk under Supercell's terms, so read the account safety page first.
