What is rank boosting? It is a paid service where a higher-ranked player helps you reach a target rank in a competitive game. Either they play ranked on your account (piloted), or you queue together (duo). You pay per division, prices rise with rank, and most publishers forbid it, so there is real account risk.

What does rank boosting mean?

Rank boosting, often called elo boosting, is when a stronger player helps you move up a ranked ladder faster than you would on your own. The word "elo" comes from the Elo rating system invented for chess, which many games borrowed for matchmaking. Today almost no game shows a pure Elo number, but the name stuck.

Every ranked game measures you with some kind of points: RR in Valorant, LP in League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, RP in Apex Legends and Rainbow Six Siege X, SR in Call of Duty, CS Rating in Counter-Strike 2. A rank boost is simply an order to take you from one point on that ladder to another, for example Gold 1 to Platinum 1.

There are three ways that help can be delivered, and they matter a lot for price and risk:

  • Piloted: the booster logs in and plays ranked on your account.
  • Duo or self-play: you play on your own account and the booster queues with you.
  • Coaching: nobody plays for you. A coach reviews your games and teaches you. It is not boosting at all, but it chases the same goal.

How does rank boosting work, step by step?

Services differ, so here is exactly how an order runs at Boosting Games. The full process is also on our how it works page.

  1. Build the order. Pick your game, current rank, target rank and mode (piloted or duo) in the calculator on the game page. The full price, including any extras, is shown before you pay.
  2. Pay and get a private order page. You receive a private link with progress updates, screenshots and a chat with your booster.
  3. Add your login (piloted only). Your game login is entered only after you have paid, on the order page, never at checkout. It is stored encrypted and deleted after the order. Duo and coaching orders never need it.
  4. A vetted booster claims the job. Boosters are vetted and ID-verified, and they only see orders for games they have proven they can play at a high level.
  5. Follow along. The booster posts screenshots after sessions. On piloted orders you stay signed out until the order is finished; if something urgent comes up, message us from your order page.
  6. Finish. When the target is reached the booster uploads a final screenshot and closes the job. If an order cannot be finished, you are refunded for the unfinished part.

Piloted vs duo boost: which kind of rank boosting is which?

Most of the price and risk difference comes down to who is holding the mouse. Here is how the options compare at Boosting Games, at the time of writing.

Option Who plays Share your login? Price Account risk
Piloted boost The booster, on your account Yes, encrypted Base price Higher
Duo / self-play You and the booster together No 1.5× the piloted price Lower
Coaching You No From $25 per hour None from the coaching itself

Piloted is the fastest because a high-rank player is making every decision. Duo is slower and costs more because two schedules have to line up and you are part of the team, but you keep your login and you actually play the games. If you are torn between paying for a result and paying to get better, our coaching vs boosting guide goes through it.

Which games and ranks can be boosted?

Rank boosts only exist for games with a ranked ladder. Each ladder has a ceiling we sell up to. Above it sit leaderboard ranks that depend on a live top-X spot, and nobody can honestly promise those, so we don't sell them.

Game Rank points We sell up to Not sold
Valorant RR Immortal 3 Radiant
League of Legends LP Master Grandmaster, Challenger
Overwatch Rank progress Champion 5 Top 500
Apex Legends RP Master Apex Predator
Counter-Strike 2 CS Rating 30,000 Above 30,000
Rainbow Six Siege X RP Diamond I Champion
Black Ops 7 SR Iridescent Top 250
Marvel Rivals Rank points Eternity One Above All

The same idea applies to Rocket League (up to Supersonic Legend), Fortnite (up to Unreal), Dota 2 (up to Divine 5) and more. You can see every title on our games page.

A rank boost is only one kind of order. You can also buy a set number of ranked wins (see win boosting explained), have your placement matches played, or get a fresh account to the level ranked needs (see ranked unlock requirements).

How much does rank boosting cost?

Rank boosts are priced per division, and each division costs more the higher you go, because wins are harder and each one is worth less. Here are real examples from our calculators at the time of writing (piloted unless stated, USD, "from" prices that can change):

Example climb Per division Total
Valorant Gold 1 → Platinum 1 $13 × 3 $39
Same Valorant climb in duo × 1.5 $58.50
League of Legends Gold IV → Platinum IV $14 × 4 $56
Overwatch Gold 5 → Platinum 5 $9 × 5 $45
Apex Legends Gold IV → Platinum IV $7 × 4 $28
Valorant Diamond 1 → Ascendant 1 $28 × 3 $84

Optional extras are shown as plain percentages before you pay: Priority (+20%) puts your order at the front of the job board, Express (+40%) means the booster plays extra sessions every day, and Solo queue only (+10%, piloted) means the booster never stacks with friends. Choosing specific agents, champions or heroes, and appearing offline in chat, cost nothing extra.

The exact price for your climb is in the calculator on each game page, such as the Valorant rank calculator.

How long does a rank boost take?

Speed depends on the game, your rank and the mode. These are typical figures from our game pages, as of October 2026:

  • Valorant: about 1–2 days per division from Gold to Diamond. Ascendant and Immortal take longer.
  • League of Legends: about 1–2 days per division from Gold to Emerald. Diamond is slower.
  • Overwatch and Black Ops 7: about 1–2 days per division from Gold to Diamond.
  • Apex Legends: about 1–3 days per division at Platinum to Diamond, because matches are long and RP gains vary.

Duo orders move at the speed of your own schedule. Express (+40%) speeds up piloted orders by adding daily sessions. Times are good-faith estimates, not promises, since queue times and match length vary.

Is rank boosting bannable?

Yes, it can be. This is the part many sites skip, so here it is plainly. Riot's Terms of Service list "playing on another person's account or otherwise engaging in activity intended to boost an account's status or rank" as prohibited. Activision's enforcement policy says the account holder is responsible for any infraction on the account, whoever was playing. EA tells Apex players never to share their credentials. Blizzard, Valve, Epic, Ubisoft and others also forbid account sharing.

Honest risk note: a piloted boost means someone else logs into your account, which breaks almost every publisher's terms and carries real risk of a suspension or ban. Duo keeps your login with you, so the risk is lower, but some publishers (Riot included) still treat any activity meant to boost a rank as against their rules. Coaching does not break those rules because you play every game yourself. Read our account safety notice before ordering.

What a careful service can do is lower the obvious red flags: boosters connect through a VPN set to your region, appear offline, and are banned from using cheats, scripts or win-trading. If an account is flagged during an order, we stop straight away and contact the customer about the next step. What nobody can do is promise that nothing will happen, because penalties are decided by the publisher, not by us.

When does rank boosting make sense, and when doesn't it?

It tends to make sense when the goal is a result rather than a skill: you want season rewards at a certain rank, you came back after a break and your rank no longer matches how you play, or you simply do not have the hours this season.

It makes less sense if you will keep playing ranked at the new rank and expect to stay there. A boost moves your rank, not your skill. If you are carried well above your level, you will usually drop back. In that case, duo with a high-rank player or a few coaching hours will do more for you. Our guide on whether game coaching is worth it covers that side.

Also be clear about what is never on offer here: we don't sell accounts, in-game currency or items, and we never use cheats. A rank boost is someone playing (or playing with you), nothing more.

Rank boosting FAQ

What is rank boosting in simple terms?

Rank boosting is paying a higher-ranked player to help you reach a target rank. They either play ranked on your account (piloted) or queue with you on your own account (duo). It is also called elo boosting. You pay for the result, usually per division, and the price rises the higher you climb because wins get harder.

Is elo boosting the same as rank boosting?

Yes. Elo boosting is the older name, taken from the Elo rating system used in chess, which early online games used for matchmaking. Modern games use their own points, such as RR in Valorant or LP in League of Legends, but players still call any paid rank climb an elo boost. MMR boost means the same thing.

Can you get banned for rank boosting?

Yes. Most publishers forbid account sharing and many forbid boosting, and they can suspend or ban accounts. Riot names boosting in its Terms of Service, and Activision holds the account owner responsible whoever played. Piloted boosts carry the most risk, duo less, and coaching none. No service can honestly promise your account will not be penalized.

How much does a rank boost cost?

It depends on the game and rank. At the time of writing, Valorant Gold 1 to Platinum 1 costs $39 piloted (three divisions at $13), League of Legends Gold IV to Platinum IV costs $56, and Overwatch Gold 5 to Platinum 5 costs $45. Duo costs 1.5 times the piloted price. The calculator shows your exact total before you pay.

Do I have to give my password for a rank boost?

Only for a piloted boost, because the booster plays on your account. You add the login on your private order page after paying, never at checkout. It is stored encrypted, shown only to your booster, and deleted after the order. Duo and coaching orders never need your login, which is one reason they carry less risk.

Can I play my own account during a boost?

Not on a piloted order. Please stay signed out until the order is finished, because two people using the account at once can trigger security checks and slow the order down. If something urgent comes up, message us from your private order page. Duo and coaching orders do not use your login, so you can play as normal.
