Rocket League ranks go Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Champion and Grand Champion, each with tiers I to III, and every tier is split into Divisions I to IV. Supersonic Legend sits alone at the top. Each playlist has its own rank, set by 10 placement matches and its own MMR.
Rocket League ranks in order
Rocket League has seven main ranks. Each has three tiers (I, II, III), and each tier has four divisions, with Division I the lowest. That gives 84 steps from Bronze I Division I to Grand Champion III Division IV, and then Supersonic Legend as the single top rank. Before you finish placements in a playlist you show as Unranked.
| Rank | Tiers | What it usually looks like | Our price per division (piloted) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | I – III | Learning to hit the ball and drive | $0.75 |
| Silver | I – III | Ball chasing, few saves | $0.9 |
| Gold | I – III | Basic aerials and some passing | $1.15 |
| Platinum | I – III | Rotation starts to matter; fast aerials appear | $1.5 |
| Diamond | I – III | Consistent mechanics, real team play | $2.25 |
| Champion | I – III | Air dribbles and fast, controlled play | $3.5 |
| Grand Champion | I – III | Very high level in every area | $5.5 |
| Supersonic Legend | Single rank | The top players in each playlist | Top of our calculator |
Prices are piloted rates at the time of writing and can change. The Rocket League boosting page shows a live quote before you pay, and climbs go all the way to Supersonic Legend.
How do Rocket League divisions work?
Divisions are the small steps inside each tier, from Division I to Division IV. Climb past Division IV and you move to the next tier; finish Tier III Division IV and you reach the next rank. Epic's own example: Gold III Division II is three divisions away from Platinum I.
Divisions are just a display of your MMR. Win a few games and you move up a division; lose a few and you drop back. There is no separate promotion series.
Rocket League MMR explained
Your rank comes from a matchmaking rating (MMR) that rises and falls after every competitive match. Beating stronger opponents is worth more than beating weaker ones, and losing to weaker players costs more. Each playlist keeps its own MMR, so your 2v2 rank can be far from your 3v3 rank.
For years that number was hidden. With Season 22 in March 2026, Epic added an option to show your MMR, so you can now see exactly how far you are from the next division or a demotion. Turn it on if you like hard numbers; leave it off if watching it move makes you tense.
Rocket League placement matches
Every competitive playlist has 10 placement matches. Until you finish them, that playlist shows as Unranked. Your results set your starting MMR, and the games carry more weight than normal matches because the system is still learning your skill. Because each playlist is separate, you play 10 placements in 1v1, another 10 in 2v2, and so on.
Our calculator prices placement games at $2.5 each piloted, so all 10 in one playlist come to $25. Our placement matches guide explains how placements compare across games.
Ranked playlists in Rocket League
| Playlist | Format | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Duel | 1v1 | Testing your own mechanics and decision making |
| Doubles | 2v2 | Playing with one regular partner |
| Standard | 3v3 | The main competitive format and rotation practice |
| Extra Modes | Rumble, Dropshot, Hoops, Snow Day, Heatseeker | Players who enjoy the variants; each keeps its own rank |
Pick one or two playlists to focus on. Splitting your games across five playlists means slow progress in all of them.
Rocket League season rewards: how they work
Season rewards are earned with wins, not just rank. To reach the Bronze reward level you need 10 wins at Bronze or higher; every level after that needs 10 more wins at that rank or higher. Your reward bar only moves when you win at a rank above the one it currently shows. The items are granted at the end of the season.
That is why a Diamond player who stops playing early can end the season with only a Platinum reward. If you are short on time, our Season Reward Wins service plays 10 competitive wins per pack: $18 from Bronze to Platinum, $28 at Diamond and Champion, and $45 at Grand Champion and above.
Rocket League Season 24 (as of October 2026)
As of October 2026, Rocket League is in Season 24, which started on September 23, 2026. Seasons usually last about three months, so expect it to run into December; Epic confirms the exact end date in-game closer to the time. A new season brings a new Rocket Pass and new competitive rewards, and it is a good moment to push your reward level. Our ranked reset dates guide keeps track.
How to rank up in Rocket League
- Rotate, don't chase. After you touch the ball, rotate back on the far side of the field. Two teammates going for the same ball concede most goals below Diamond.
- Collect small boost pads. Starving for boost is common; small pads on the way back keep you in the play.
- Shadow defend. Drive back between the ball and your goal instead of diving at the attacker.
- Use training packs and free play for 15 minutes before ranked. Our training routine guide explains why short, daily sessions work best.
- Stick to one playlist and one partner while you climb.
- Stop after two losses. Tilt is real in fast games; see how to stop tilting.
When a Rocket League boost or coaching makes sense
Example prices at the time of writing (each full tier is four divisions, so a full rank is 12 divisions):
- Platinum I to Diamond I, piloted: $18.
- Diamond I to Champion I, piloted: $27, or $40.5 in duo, where you play alongside the booster.
- Champion I to Grand Champion I, piloted: $42.
- Tournament wins for credits and titles: from $8 per win at Bronze to Gold.
If you want to improve yourself, coaching starts at $25 an hour, and Play With a Pro puts a high-rank teammate in your party for 1 hour ($19) or 3 hours ($49). Coaching vs boosting helps you decide.
Rocket League's Code of Conduct bans boosting, and Epic does not allow accounts to be shared. A piloted boost carries real risk of penalties, including bans. Duo is lower risk because you keep your login, and coaching does not involve your account. Read our account safety page and is boosting bannable? before ordering.

Rocket League ranks FAQ
How many ranks are in Rocket League?
There are 22 ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Champion and Grand Champion, each with tiers I to III, plus Supersonic Legend at the top. Every tier below Supersonic Legend is split into four divisions, so there are 84 division steps from Bronze I Division I to Grand Champion III Division IV before Supersonic Legend.
How many placement matches are in Rocket League?
Each competitive playlist has 10 placement matches. Until you finish them, that playlist shows as Unranked. Because every playlist keeps its own rank and MMR, you play a separate set of 10 placements for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and each Extra Mode you want a rank in.
Can you see your MMR in Rocket League?
Yes. Since Season 22 in March 2026, Rocket League has an option to show your MMR, which used to be hidden. It lets you see how close you are to the next division or to dropping down. Each playlist has its own MMR, so the number you see depends on which playlist you are looking at.
How do Rocket League season rewards work?
Season rewards are unlocked with wins. You need 10 wins at Bronze or higher for the Bronze reward level, then 10 more wins at each higher rank to move up a level. The bar only advances when you win at a rank above the one it shows, and the items are granted at the end of the season.
What is the highest rank in Rocket League?
Supersonic Legend is the highest rank. It sits above Grand Champion III and has no tiers or divisions. Only a small share of players in each playlist reach it, and holding it takes consistent wins against other top players because each match moves your MMR up or down.
Is each Rocket League playlist ranked separately?
Yes. Duel, Doubles, Standard and each Extra Mode keep their own rank and MMR. It is normal to be Diamond in 3v3 and Platinum in 1v1. Season reward progress, however, counts wins across all competitive playlists, so wins in any of them move your reward bar.
