CS2 Premier rating, officially called CS Rating, is one number that goes up when you win Premier matches and down when you lose. It is shown in seven color bands, from gray (under 5,000) to gold (30,000 and up). You need Prime Status and 10 Premier wins before it appears, and it resets every season.
What is CS2 Premier rating?
Premier is the main ranked mode in Counter-Strike 2. Instead of a badge like Silver or Gold Nova, it gives you a single number called CS Rating. Win and the number climbs; lose and it drops. Everyone in your region who plays Premier is measured on the same scale, which is why Premier has regional and global leaderboards.
That is different from the older-style Competitive mode, which still uses the 18 classic Skill Groups (Silver I to The Global Elite) and tracks a separate rank on every map. We cover the difference in detail further down. If you just want to know "how good is my number", the color band is the quickest guide.
CS2 rating colors and ranges
Valve splits CS Rating into seven color bands of 5,000 points each, with gold open-ended at the top. The color is just a visual label: the number underneath is what matchmaking uses.
| Color | CS Rating range | What it usually looks like | Our price per 1,000 rating (piloted) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gray | 0 – 4,999 | New or returning players, learning maps and spray control | $7 |
| Light blue | 5,000 – 9,999 | Where many players land after placements; aim is fine, utility is rare | $9 |
| Blue | 10,000 – 14,999 | Basic smokes and flashes, more trading, still loose economy | $12 |
| Purple | 15,000 – 19,999 | Consistent crosshair placement, real executes and retakes | $20 |
| Pink | 20,000 – 24,999 | Strong players; every won match is worth a little less | $24 |
| Red | 25,000 – 29,999 | Very high level; small mistakes get punished fast | $46 |
| Gold | 30,000+ | A small leaderboard group in each region | Not sold |
Prices are for a piloted climb at the time of writing and can change; the calculator on the CS2 boosting page always shows the live total before you pay. We stop at 30,000 because gold is a leaderboard-level group, not a band most players should be buying into.
How much CS Rating do you gain per win?
There is no fixed amount. How much a match moves you depends mostly on the gap between your rating and the other team's. Beat a team rated above you and you gain more; lose to a team rated below you and you drop more. Two players on the same team can gain different amounts from the same win because they started from different numbers.
Why gains shrink higher up
Above about 20,000, matches are closer and the rating pool is thinner, so each win tends to be worth less and climbs slow down. That is why our price per 1,000 rating jumps at pink and again at red: the booster needs more matches to cover the same distance.
Why your gains might feel random
Valve has tuned Premier so that players whose number does not match their recent results yet see bigger swings until it settles. Fresh placements, long breaks and big win or loss streaks can all produce numbers that look odd for a few matches. Play 10 to 20 more games before you decide the system is broken.
How to unlock Premier and reveal your rating
- Get Prime Status. Premier needs CS2 Prime on your Steam account. Accounts that had Prime in CS:GO keep it.
- Earn some XP. Brand-new accounts may not see ranked modes straight away. A few Casual, Deathmatch or Arms Race sessions usually open them up.
- Win 10 Premier matches. Your CS Rating stays hidden until you have 10 Premier wins in the current season. Losses and draws do not count toward the 10.
- Check your region. Leaderboards are split by region, so play where your ping is best and stay there.
If your rating is still not showing, the usual reasons are that you have fewer than 10 wins this season, you are on an account without Prime, or you are looking at Competitive (per-map Skill Groups) instead of Premier.
Premier vs Competitive: CS Rating vs Skill Groups
| Premier | Competitive | FACEIT (third party) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you see | One CS Rating number with a color | A Skill Group per map, Silver I to Global Elite | Level 1 to 10 plus Elo |
| Map choice | Pick-and-ban across the Active Duty pool | You pick the map you queue | Pick-and-ban |
| Leaderboards | Regional and global | None | Regional ladders |
| Resets | Every Premier season | Separate per-map ranks | Own rules |
| Best for | Your "main" rank and bragging rights | Practicing one map without pressure on your number | Its own client-side anti-cheat and a serious player pool |
Most players treat Premier as their real rank and use Competitive to learn a new map. If you also play FACEIT, expect the two to disagree a little: they use different pools and formulas, so there is no exact conversion.
Premier Season 5 and rating resets (as of October 2026)
As of October 2026, CS2 is in Premier Season 5, which began with Valve's update on July 6, 2026. The biggest change was the map pool: Cache returned to Active Duty and Overpass was removed, giving a pool of Ancient, Anubis, Cache, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage and Nuke.
Each new Premier season resets ratings and leaderboards, so every player has to win 10 matches again before their number reappears. Past seasons have run roughly five to six months, but Valve has not confirmed an end date for Season 5, so treat any date you see online as a guess. Our ranked reset dates guide tracks it across games.
What is a good CS2 Premier rating?
"Good" depends on your region and the point in the season, because the spread shifts as people place. A useful rule of thumb: most players who finish placements sit in light blue or blue, purple means you are comfortably above the typical Premier player, and pink, red and gold are a small slice of the player base. Community trackers publish live snapshots if you want the exact percentile; our rank distribution guide collects them.
How to climb CS Rating faster
- Fix crosshair placement first. Head height, pre-aimed at the angles you expect, wins more duels than flicks.
- Learn three smokes and two flashes per map. Enough to take one site on T side and retake it on CT.
- Buy with your team. Half-buys that split the team's money lose more rounds than a clean save.
- Stop after two losses in a row. Tilted sessions cost more rating than any single bad match.
- Review one demo a week. Look for deaths without a trade; they are the easiest mistakes to fix.
We go deeper on each of these in how to rank up in CS2, and our aim training routine covers the mechanical side.
When a CS2 boost or coaching makes sense
If you are short on time but know you play better than your number, a climb can get you to the band where your matches feel right. Here is what typical orders cost at the time of writing:
- 10,000 to 15,000 (blue to purple), piloted: $60. The same climb in duo, where you play alongside the booster: $90.
- 15,000 to 20,000 (purple to pink), piloted: $100.
- New season: the Premier Season Start Bundle covers the 10 wins that unlock your rating plus 10 more (up to 14,999) for $65.
- Prefer FACEIT? The FACEIT level boost runs from $12 per level at levels 1 to 3, so level 4 to 7 is $54.
If you would rather improve your own play, coaching starts at $25 an hour with a high-rated coach, or send your matches to the CS2 Demo Review Pack (3 demos for $36). Per-map Skill Group wins are sold separately as Competitive map rank wins.
Be honest with yourself about the risk. Steam's Subscriber Agreement treats your account as personal and does not allow sharing it, and Valve can restrict accounts that break its rules. A piloted boost, where someone logs in as you, carries real ban risk. Duo carries less because you keep your login, and coaching never touches your account. Read our account safety page before you order.

CS2 Premier rating FAQ
What are the CS2 rating colors?
CS Rating has seven color bands. Gray covers 0 to 4,999, light blue 5,000 to 9,999, blue 10,000 to 14,999, purple 15,000 to 19,999, pink 20,000 to 24,999, red 25,000 to 29,999, and gold is 30,000 and up. The color is only a label for the number; matchmaking uses the exact rating, so a 14,900 blue player and a 15,100 purple player are treated almost the same.
How many wins do you need to get a CS2 Premier rating?
You need 10 Premier wins in the current season before your CS Rating is revealed. Losses and draws do not count toward that total, so it can take 15 to 20 matches if your team is struggling. You also need Prime Status on your Steam account. Once you have 10 wins the number appears and starts moving with every match.
Does CS2 Premier rating reset every season?
Yes. Each new Premier season resets ratings and leaderboards, and every player has to win 10 matches again before their number shows. As of October 2026 the game is in Premier Season 5, which started on July 6, 2026 with Cache replacing Overpass in the map pool. Valve has not announced when Season 5 ends.
Is CS Rating the same as FACEIT Elo?
No. CS Rating is Valve's Premier number and FACEIT Elo belongs to a separate third-party platform with its own player pool and formula. Players who are strong on one are usually strong on the other, but there is no official conversion, and the numbers can differ noticeably. Treat each as its own ladder.
What is the highest CS2 Premier rating?
There is no hard cap. Gold starts at 30,000 and the very best players in each region sit well above that on the leaderboards. Because ratings reset every season, top numbers change over time. For most players, reaching purple (15,000) or pink (20,000) is a strong result.
Why is my CS2 Premier rating not showing?
The most common reason is that you have fewer than 10 Premier wins this season, often right after a season reset. Other causes are an account without Prime Status, or looking at Competitive mode, which shows per-map Skill Groups instead of a CS Rating. Keep playing Premier and the number appears after your tenth win.
Can I buy a CS2 boost above 30,000 rating?
Not from us. We sell climbs up to 30,000 CS Rating, the start of the gold band. Ratings above that are a small leaderboard group, so we do not sell them. If you are already in red and want to push further, coaching or a demo review is the better route.
