What is THE FINALS? It is a free-to-play team shooter from Embark Studios, set in a virtual game show where almost every building can be destroyed. Teams of three fight to grab cash, deposit it at cashout stations and hold the most money when the round ends. You win by outscoring every other team.
What is THE FINALS?
THE FINALS mixes a fast first-person shooter with huge destruction. Walls, floors and whole buildings come down, so the map changes every match. Each player picks a build, Light, Medium or Heavy, and the right mix of builds and gadgets matters as much as aim.

| Latest update | Season 12, PRIME TIME (October 20, 2026) |
Season 12 brought a new Infiltrator playstyle, reworked Monaco, Seoul and Skyway Stadium arenas, a Solo Showdown beta mode and a full HUD rework. Steam averaged about 11,200 players in the month around the launch.
What is the objective in THE FINALS?
In Cashout, the main mode, vaults appear on the map. Your team opens a vault, carries the cashbox to a cashout station and deposits it. The deposit takes time, and other teams can steal the station before it finishes. Cash only counts once a cashout completes, so holding a station is often the hardest part.
Destruction is part of the plan. Drop a floor under a station, blow a hole through a wall to surprise defenders, or block a doorway with debris. Teams that use the map well beat teams that only shoot.
How do you win in THE FINALS?
Every mode rewards your team for scoring more than the rest. The table covers the main playlists.
| Mode | Format | How you win |
|---|---|---|
| Ranked tournaments | Cashout teams of three, multiple rounds | Advance through each round and take the final |
| World Tour | Cashout tournaments | Earn Fans with strong plays and climb World Tour ranks |
| Quick Cash | One cashout at a time | Score cashouts faster than the other teams |
| Bank It | Coins dropped across the map | Collect and bank coins faster than other teams |
| Solo Showdown (beta) | Solo, added in Season 12 | A beta mode for players without a team |
Ranked uses Cashout tournaments. Season 12 also made Cashout rounds faster, with shorter vault and spawn timers.
How do ranks work in THE FINALS?
Ranked has five leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Each league has four tiers, from 4 up to 1, and each tier is 2,500 Rank Score. That puts Diamond at 40,000 Rank Score. You gain score for strong finishes and lose it for early exits.
Above Diamond sits Ruby, which is not a score target. It goes only to the top 500 players at the end of the season, so it depends on everyone else on the leaderboard. Each season starts with four placement tournaments that set your starting score.

What are the best beginner tips for THE FINALS?
- Start with Medium. It has a healing beam and solid weapons, which helps a new team survive.
- Play with your team. Three players who move together beat three who solo.
- Defend the station from cover. Stand where you can see the cashout, not on top of it.
- Use destruction. Opening a new angle often wins a fight before it starts.
- Watch the scoreboard. Sometimes the best play is to stop a leading team, not to chase cash yourself.
- Play Quick Cash before ranked. It teaches station fights at a lower cost.

THE FINALS FAQ
Is THE FINALS free to play?
Yes. THE FINALS is free to play on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Money only buys cosmetics, the premium tiers of the battle pass and Multibucks, the in-game currency. None of it makes your character stronger. Every build, weapon and gadget can be unlocked by playing. The free battle pass track also gives rewards to every player each season.
What are the three builds in THE FINALS?
Light, Medium and Heavy. Light is fast and fragile, with tools for flanking and quick kills. Medium is the all-rounder, with healing and support gadgets. Heavy has the most health and the strongest defensive tools, such as shields and barriers. Each build has its own weapons, specializations and gadgets. Most new players start with Medium.
How many players are on a team in THE FINALS?
Cashout, the mode used for ranked and World Tour, uses teams of three. Some other playlists use different team sizes, and Season 12 added a Solo Showdown beta mode for solo play. Team modes reward a balanced group, so many squads run a mix of builds. Learning to play two builds helps you fit any team.
What is new in Season 12, PRIME TIME?
Season 12 launched October 20, 2026. It added the Infiltrator playstyle, the True Sight specialization, new gadgets, reworked Monaco, Seoul and Skyway Stadium arenas, a Solo Showdown beta and a full HUD rework. Cashout rounds are also faster, with shorter vault and spawn timers. Several arenas changed, so old habits on those maps may need updating.
Does THE FINALS have cross-play?
Yes. THE FINALS supports cross-play across PC, PS5 and Xbox, and your progress is tied to your Embark ID. That makes it easy to party with friends on other platforms, and it lets our players team up with you wherever you play. On consoles, you can turn cross-play off in settings if you only want to face players on your own platform.
Is boosting allowed in THE FINALS?
No. Embark's ban enforcement policy lists sharing or selling your account and account boosting as reasons for temporary or permanent bans on every platform. Playing in a party with stronger players on your own account is normal team play, and coaching is always fine. Piloted orders carry real account risk, which you accept when you choose them. Coaching is always within the rules.
