AION 2 is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG from NC, launched globally on PC on October 5, 2026. You play an Elyos or Asmodian, level to the Season 1 cap of 45, then raise Combat Power. Winning means clearing harder dungeons and bosses and, if you choose, beating players in arenas and the Abyss.
What is AION 2?
AION 2 is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG from NC, the Korean company behind the original Aion. It is set about 200 years after the first game, after the Tower of Eternity has fallen, and the two winged factions, the Elyos and the Asmodians, are still at war while the Balaur threat grows.
The big hook is flight. You can glide and fight in the air as well as on the ground, across a world much larger than the original. The global version opened to players in the West and other regions on October 5, 2026.

Your faction is fixed for each character, and Elyos and Asmodians live on separate paired servers. You meet the other side in PvP areas, while group dungeons use region-wide matchmaking.
What is the objective of AION 2?
The first goal is to level your character to the cap of 45 through the main story, side quests and early dungeons. The story also unlocks the areas and systems you need later, so it is worth following on your first character.
After 45 your level stops rising, and Combat Power becomes your real score. It rises with better gear, the Daevanion progression board, Arcana cards, stigma and skill upgrades, titles and wings. A typical endgame session is a short weekly routine: dungeons, bosses and, if you like it, some PvP.
How do you win in AION 2?
AION 2 has no final victory screen. Winning in an MMO like this means clearing harder content, building a stronger character and, for PvP players, beating other players in arenas and faction battles. The table shows the main endgame modes for Season 1.

How does progression work?
Progression has two stages. First comes leveling from 1 to 45, which most of the story covers. Our AION 2 leveling guide lays out the fastest route.
Second comes Combat Power. Each weekly clear gives gear and materials that raise it, and higher Combat Power lets you take on harder dungeon stages and challenge levels. The arenas also have leaderboards with seasonal rewards for players who want a competitive ladder.
Beginner tips to win more
- Choose your server with friends. Factions are fixed per character, so agree on Elyos or Asmodian first.
- Follow the main story. It is the steadiest route to 45 and opens the systems you need.
- Learn to fly well. Movement in the air is part of combat, not just travel.
- Join a Legion. A guild makes 5-player dungeons and timed runs far easier.
- Treat the endgame as a weekly routine. Short, steady sessions beat marathon nights.
- Practise 4v4 before 1v1. Team arenas are more forgiving while you learn your class.
- Spend real money slowly. The game is free; try it properly before buying anything.

Is AION 2 free to play?
Yes. AION 2 launched globally as a free-to-play game on PC through Steam and NC's PURPLE launcher on October 5, 2026. Founder's Packs were only needed for the five days of early access before launch. There is also an optional monthly subscription, which, among other perks, is needed to trade on the market, so check what it includes before you buy.
What is the level cap in AION 2?
The level cap for Season 1 of the global version is 45. Once you reach it, your character keeps growing through Combat Power instead of levels. Gear, the Daevanion board, Arcana, stigmas, titles and wings all add to it. Higher Combat Power opens harder dungeon stages and boss challenge levels, which in turn drop better rewards.
Should I pick Elyos or Asmodian?
Pick the faction your friends play, because faction choice is tied to the character and the two sides sit on separate paired servers. The factions differ mostly in look and story, not in power. You meet the other side in PvP areas such as the Abyss, while PvE dungeon matchmaking can group players from across the region.
Is PvP required in AION 2?
No. PvP is optional, and you can progress through PvE alone. Players who enjoy fighting others can join large Abyss faction battles, the 1v1 Arena of Solitude or the 4v4 Arena of Cooperation. Instanced PvP scales everyone to a comparable level, and arena leaderboards hand out seasonal rewards. If you are unsure, try a few team matches before deciding.
How many classes are in AION 2?
AION 2 launched with eight classes. Each has its own role in groups, so think about whether you want to tank, heal or deal damage before you choose. Your class also shapes which arenas and dungeons feel easiest, so trying a couple of classes in the early levels before committing is a sensible way to start.
