Hearthstone ranks are split into five leagues, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond, each with ranks 10 down to 1, then Legend. Each rank holds three stars. Wins add stars, multiplied early in the month by your star bonus, losses remove one, and every fifth rank is a floor you can't fall below.
How do Hearthstone ranks work?
Hearthstone ranked play uses one ladder per format, mainly Standard and Wild, each tracked separately. Both reset at the start of every month, which is one ranked season.
| League | Ranks | Floors | Stars to clear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 10 → 1 | Bronze 10, Bronze 5 | 30 |
| Silver | 10 → 1 | Silver 10, Silver 5 | 30 |
| Gold | 10 → 1 | Gold 10, Gold 5 | 30 |
| Platinum | 10 → 1 | Platinum 10, Platinum 5 | 30 |
| Diamond | 10 → 1 | Diamond 10, Diamond 5 | 30 |
| Legend | Numbered leaderboard | You can't drop out once there | – |
That is 50 ranks and 150 stars from Bronze 10 to Legend. It sounds like a lot, but the star bonus and win streaks mean most players cover the early ranks quickly.
How do stars, floors and win streaks work?
Each rank has three star slots. A win adds stars and fills slots, and when you pass three you move up a rank. A loss removes one star, which can drop you a rank, unless you are on a floor.
Rank floors
Ranks 10 and 5 of every league are floors. Once you reach one, you can't fall below it for the rest of the month. Hitting Gold 5, for example, means your worst case for the month is Gold 5. Legend works the same way: once you reach it, you stay there.
Win streaks
If your previous two ranked games were wins, your next win gives double stars. Streaks carry across sessions but reset each season. Streak bonuses stop at Diamond 5, which is why the last stretch to Legend is the slowest part of the climb.
What is the Hearthstone star bonus?
At the start of each month you get a star bonus, a multiplier on the stars you earn per win. It is set by your matchmaking rating (MMR) and your rank last season. The minimum is 2x and a player who finished at Legend starts at 10x, or 11x for high Legend.
Each floor you reach lowers the bonus by 1. So a returning Legend player rips through Bronze and Silver in a handful of wins, then slows down as the bonus shrinks. Losses don't lower the bonus.
| Last season's best rank | Minimum starting star bonus |
|---|---|
| Bronze 10 or Bronze 5 | 2x |
| Silver 5 | 3x |
| Gold 10 / Gold 5 | 4x / 5x |
| Platinum 10 / Platinum 5 | 6x / 7x |
| Diamond 10 / Diamond 5 | 8x / 9x |
| Legend / high Legend | 10x / 11x |
When do Hearthstone ranks reset?
Every month, on the first day of the month. Everyone returns to Bronze 10 and the star bonus gives stronger players a fast start. Matchmaking is based on your hidden MMR, which does not reset, so you still face players of similar skill even at Bronze 10. As of October 2026 this monthly cycle is unchanged.
Rewards come from your highest rank of the month. Win five ranked games to earn the season card back and to unlock the end-of-season chest, which grows with each floor you reached (rare and epic cards and expansion packs). Reaching Legend for the first time also gives the Legend card back.
How do you get Legend in Hearthstone?
- Play one strong deck. Pick a proven deck from the current meta and play it all month. Knowing your own matchups beats switching every few losses.
- Climb early in the month. Your star bonus is biggest at the start, so play your first sessions in the first days of the season.
- Use streaks below Diamond 5. Short, focused sessions where you stop after a loss keep more streaks alive.
- Prepare for Diamond 5 to Legend. Without streaks, it is one star per win and one per loss. Above 50% win rate you move up. At a 55% win rate you net about one star every ten games, so the last 15 stars can take around 150 games. Plan for it.
- Know the meta decks you face. Diamond is full of the same few decks. Learn what each is trying to do and what it fears.
- Don't play tired. Card games punish small misplays. If you lose two in a row because of mistakes, stop.
Do Battlegrounds and Arena use the same ranks?
No. Battlegrounds uses a numeric rating that goes up or down after each eight-player game based on your placement. Arena is a draft mode where you build a deck from random picks and play a run of games with it. Neither is affected by your ladder rank.
How much does a Hearthstone rank boost cost?
Our Hearthstone boosting page prices each rank. At the time of writing a piloted climb costs $0.8 per rank in Bronze, $1 in Silver, $1.2 in Gold, $1.4 in Platinum and $2 in Diamond, in Standard or Wild. Hearthstone is one-versus-one, so there is no duo option.
| Climb | Price |
|---|---|
| Full Gold league (10 ranks) | $12 |
| Full Platinum league (10 ranks) | $14 |
| Diamond 5 to Legend (5 ranks) | $10 |
| Bronze 10 to Legend (50 ranks) | $64 |
We also offer a Battlegrounds rating boost (+500 rating from $19), an Arena run ($9) and Rewards Track levels (from $10 for 10 levels). We sell climbs up to Legend; your number on the Legend leaderboard is not sold.

Hearthstone ranks FAQ
How many ranks are there in Hearthstone?
There are 50 regular ranks: five leagues (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond) with ranks 10 down to 1 in each, then Legend. Each rank holds three stars, so it takes 150 stars to go from Bronze 10 to Legend before any star bonus or win streaks.
What are rank floors in Hearthstone?
Ranks 10 and 5 of every league are floors. Once you reach a floor, you can't drop below it for the rest of the month, no matter how many games you lose. Legend works like a final floor: once you reach it, you stay in Legend until the monthly reset.
When do win streaks stop in Hearthstone ranked?
Win streaks give double stars after two wins in a row, but they stop at Diamond 5. From Diamond 5 to Legend each win gives one star and each loss takes one, which is why this part of the ladder takes the longest.
How does the Hearthstone star bonus work?
At the start of each month you get a multiplier on stars per win, based on your MMR and last month's rank. It starts at a minimum of 2x and goes up to 10x for Legend players. Every floor you reach lowers it by one, and losses do not affect it.
Do Hearthstone ranks reset every month?
Yes. On the first day of each month everyone goes back to Bronze 10, and your star bonus helps you climb back quickly. Your hidden matchmaking rating does not reset, so you are matched against players of similar skill from the start.
Is Hearthstone boosting allowed?
No. Blizzard's End User License Agreement forbids account sharing and paid boosting, and Blizzard can suspend accounts that break these rules. If you buy a piloted boost, you accept real ban risk. Coaching is allowed and carries no account risk.
