What is Wuthering Waves?

Wuthering Waves is an open-world action RPG made and published by Kuro Games. You play as the Rover, who wakes up with no memory in a world reshaped by a disaster called the Lament. You explore large regions, fight in real time and collect characters called Resonators, then build them into teams of three.

Version 3.5 on July 10, 2026 opened the Mengzhou region and brought the Xbox release. Version 3.6 followed on August 20. Version 3.7 added Main Quest Chapter IV Act IV, the Simulacrum Nexus area of Mengzhou, and the Resonators Hsin and Suoming.

What is the objective in Wuthering Waves?

There is no single finish line. The main quest tells the story, and new acts arrive with each version. Around it, you have three long-term goals: explore every region, grow your account through Union Level, and build Resonators strong enough for the hardest fights.

Combat is the heart of the game. Fights are real-time, with dodges, parries and quick swaps between your three Resonators. Each swap can trigger an intro and outro skill, so good teams chain their attacks together. A skilled player can clear much harder content with the same characters than a player who just mashes buttons.

Echoes are the other big system. When you defeat many enemies, you can absorb them as Echoes. Echoes act as gear: you equip them on Resonators for stats and set bonuses, and some can be summoned in battle. Echo main stats and substats are random, which is why building a team takes time.

How do you win in Wuthering Waves?

Winning means clearing content at full rewards. The table below shows the main modes and what "done" looks like in each one.

Mode Unlocks What winning looks like
Main quest From the start Finish each act, including Chapter IV Act IV in 3.7
Exploration From the start Reach 100 percent in each region with chests, puzzles and collectibles
Tacet Fields and Forgery Challenges Early Union Levels Farm Echoes and upgrade materials
Tower of Adversity Union Level 15 Clear all floors with max stars before the Hazard reset
Whimpering Wastes Union Level 30 Clear stages with two teams and push your score

Tower of Adversity has two permanent towers with one-time rewards and a Hazard Zone that changes enemies and resets about every 28 days. A full Hazard clear pays roughly 800 Astrite each cycle. All towers share Vigor, so you cannot use the same Resonator everywhere. Whimpering Wastes needs two full teams per stage, so roster depth matters there.

How does progression work in Wuthering Waves?

Your account level is called Union Level. You raise it by doing quests, exploring, finishing daily activities and spending Waveplate, the stamina used for material farming. Union Level unlocks modes and raises your SOL3 Phase, which sets how strong enemies are and how good their drops are.

  • Union Level: your account level. It opens Tower of Adversity at 15 and Whimpering Wastes at 30.
  • SOL3 Phase: the world level. Higher phases mean tougher enemies and better rewards.
  • Data Bank: grows as you absorb Echoes and raises the quality of the Echoes you find.
  • Resonator level, weapon and skills: each needs materials from Forgery Challenges and bosses.

The 3.7 update added a few quality-of-life changes too, such as replaying older main quests through the Journey Log. Our Wuthering Waves 3.7 guide covers the new content in detail.

What are the best beginner tips for Wuthering Waves?

  • Follow the main quest early. It unlocks regions, systems and free rewards in the right order.
  • Spend Waveplate every day. It refills over time, and stamina left at the cap is wasted.
  • Learn to parry. A well-timed counter breaks enemy attacks and makes hard bosses much easier.
  • Focus on one main team of three before spreading materials across many Resonators.
  • Upgrade Echoes on your main damage dealer first, and do not chase perfect substats too early.
  • Reach Union Level 15 and try Tower of Adversity even if you cannot full clear. The permanent towers give one-time rewards.
  • Explore as you go. Chests and puzzles add up to a lot of Astrite and materials over time.

WuWa FAQ

What is Wuthering Waves in simple terms?

Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play open-world action RPG by Kuro Games. You explore a large world, follow a story as the Rover, and fight in real time with a team of three Resonators. You build those characters with weapons and Echoes, then test them in endgame modes like Tower of Adversity and Whimpering Wastes. It runs on PC, PS5, Xbox, iOS and Android.

Is Wuthering Waves free to play?

Yes. The game is free to download and play on every platform. It has optional purchases, including a gacha system for new Resonators and weapons. You can earn Astrite, the premium currency, by exploring, doing quests and clearing Tower of Adversity. Many players finish all the story and endgame content without spending money if they build their teams carefully.

What Union Level do I need for the endgame?

Tower of Adversity unlocks at Union Level 15, and Whimpering Wastes opens at Union Level 30 after a short tutorial quest. You raise Union Level through quests, exploration, daily activities and spending Waveplate. Higher Union Levels also raise your SOL3 Phase, which makes enemies tougher but improves the drops you get from bosses and Tacet Fields.

How long does it take to finish Wuthering Waves?

There is no fixed end because Kuro Games adds new story acts, regions and characters with each version. Catching up on the main quest takes many hours for a new player, and full exploration of every region takes much longer. Most players settle into a routine of daily Waveplate use plus Tower of Adversity and Whimpering Wastes resets.

Can someone else play my Wuthering Waves account for me?

Some services do, but Kuro Games' terms treat accounts as personal and do not allow sharing, so piloted orders carry real risk. We play by hand with no cheats, macros or scripts, and we tell you about that rule before you order. If you would rather keep your login to yourself, coaching teaches rotations and team building with no access needed.

Do you sell Astrite or Resonators?

No. We never sell Astrite, Lunite, subscriptions, Tides, Convene pulls or accounts, and we never promise specific Resonators, weapons or Echo rolls. Our services are play-time help such as Tower of Adversity and Whimpering Wastes clears, exploration, story, Union Level and building Resonators you already own, all at fixed prices you see before checkout.
