The short Tarkov leveling guide: trader tasks give the most XP, so do them in order and combine several per raid. Survive raids for the extraction bonus, play your Scav on cooldown and loot and examine new items. Since August 3, 2026, wipes run as Seasons, starting with Kord Breach, on separate seasonal characters.
How does progression work in Tarkov in 2026?
Escape from Tarkov reached version 1.0 in November 2025. Your PMC levels up from experience, and your level gates traders, gear and tasks. Tasks (still often called quests) are the spine of progression: they unlock trader loyalty levels, better items and the Kappa container.
The big change this year is Seasons. Patch 1.1.0.0 went live on August 3, 2026 and introduced the first season, Kord Breach. As of October 2026 it works like this:
- Seasonal characters are separate profiles on their own servers. They start at level 1 and reset when the season ends, every four to six months.
- PvP Zone and PvE Zone characters are separate profiles with their own progress.
- Each season has fixed global modifiers, plus optional personal modifiers: negative ones give you points to spend on positive ones.
- Insurance is disabled on the seasonal PvP servers, and the flea market fee rose from 3% to 5%.
So when people say "wipe" now, they usually mean a new season. Leveling fast at the start of a season is still the most valuable skill in the game.
Where does XP come from in Tarkov?
Knowing where experience comes from tells you how to level faster. In rough order of importance:
| XP source | Why it matters | How to get more |
|---|---|---|
| Completing tasks | The largest single source, plus trader unlocks | Stack several tasks on the same map per raid |
| Surviving the raid | Extracting adds a bonus to the XP earned that raid | Play to extract, not to fight every PMC |
| Kills | PMC kills and headshots pay more than Scav body shots | Take good fights, aim for the head |
| Looting and examining | First-time item examines and containers give XP | Examine everything new early in a season |
| Healing | Healing yourself and teammates gives XP | Heal fully instead of only stopping bleeds |
The biggest mistake is dying a lot. A death throws away the extraction bonus and your loot, so a careful, task-focused raid often beats an aggressive one.
Tarkov leveling guide: how do you level up fast?
- Start with the early trader tasks. The first tasks from Prapor, Therapist and Mechanic are short and low risk, and they open the early trader levels.
- Plan raids around tasks. Before each raid, check which tasks share a map and do them together.
- Play your Scav every time it is off cooldown. Free raids mean free loot and money for kit, with no gear risk.
- Learn two maps well before branching out. Knowing extracts and spawns keeps you alive, and survival is XP.
- Bring kit you can afford to lose. Running cheap, effective loadouts keeps you raiding instead of rebuilding.
- Choose modifiers that fit you. In seasonal play, pick personal modifiers that help your weakest area; an XP-boosting modifier is only worth it if you survive often enough to benefit.
Leveling slows down in the 30s and 40s, when tasks get longer and need specific kills, items or locations. That is where most players either push through with a team or give up on Kappa for the season.
Which tasks matter, and how do you get Kappa now?
The Kappa container is Tarkov's biggest secure container, earned by completing the Collector task. Season 1 changed the requirements: most side tasks were removed from Collector's list, leaving a few, such as Gunsmith, and the new conditions include loyalty level 4 with all traders and a separate reputation requirement with Fence. Completing Collector now gives the "Dawn of a New Era" achievement instead of the old Kappa Path.
What that means in practice:
- Trader loyalty now matters more than ever, so do the tasks that raise standing with each trader.
- Fence reputation needs planning; Scav runs and the right in-raid behavior build it.
- The Gunsmith chain is still a long weapon-modding task line, so start it early.
Because the exact list can change with patches, check Collector's requirements in game before planning a season around it.
Should you level in PvP or PvE?
PvE Zone is the calmer route: AI enemies only, so you can learn maps, do tasks and level at your own pace. PvP Zone and seasonal PvP are where the trading economy and the top rewards are, but other players make every raid less predictable. Your PvE and PvP progress are separate, so leveling one does not help the other.
If you are new, a good path is to learn maps and early tasks in PvE, then switch to PvP once you know extracts. Whichever you pick, tell us the mode when you order anything, because orders are tied to one profile.
What does a Tarkov leveling or sherpa carry cost?
If the grind is getting in the way, these are our prices at the time of writing, shown before checkout on the Tarkov boosting page:
| Service | Price | Mode | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Character leveling 1 to 15 / 15 to 30 / 30 to 42 | $29 / $59 / $89 | Piloted | 2 to 10 days |
| Task completion, 5 / 10 tasks | $35 / $65 | Self-play or piloted | 2 to 7 days |
| Kappa progress, next 10 required tasks | $69 | Piloted | 4 to 10 days per pack |
| Sherpa raid hours, 1 / 3 / 5 hours | $15 / $39 / $59 | Duo, your login stays with you | First session in 1 to 2 days |
Leveling from 1 to 30 costs $88, and 1 to 42 costs $177. Self-play task orders cost 1.5 times the piloted price, so ten tasks done together cost $97.5.
The sherpa option is the one we point most people to. A veteran raids with you on your own account, so you learn maps, extracts and task spots while you progress, and you never hand over your login.
Battlestate Games' terms do not allow sharing your account, and it can ban accounts that break its rules. Piloted leveling and task orders carry real ban risk. Sherpa raids keep your login with you and carry less risk. Read account safety and is boosting bannable? first. We never sell roubles, items, loot or accounts.

Price my boostAsk Boost Up AIHow does a Tarkov order work?
Every order follows the steps on how it works. You see the full price first. A vetted, ID-verified booster takes the job. For piloted orders your login is entered only after you pay, kept encrypted and deleted when the order ends. You get progress screenshots and messages on a private order page. On piloted orders, stay signed out of your account while the order runs; if something urgent comes up, message us from your order page. If we can't finish an order for a reason on our side, we refund the part we didn't deliver.
Demand and wait times jump at the start of each season, so order early if you want a fast start. Tell us your region so your booster uses nearby servers. For more on task orders across games, read quest and campaign boosting, and for playing alongside a pro, duo boosting explained.
Tarkov leveling FAQ
What is the fastest way to level in Tarkov?
Do trader tasks in order and combine several on the same map each raid, because tasks give the most XP. Survive raids to keep the extraction bonus, run your Scav whenever it is off cooldown, take PMC kills with headshots when it is safe, and examine new items early in a season for easy first-time XP.
What is Kord Breach in Escape from Tarkov?
Kord Breach is the first season of Escape from Tarkov's Seasons system, which arrived with patch 1.1.0.0 on August 3, 2026. Seasonal characters are separate profiles on their own servers, start at level 1 and reset when the season ends, roughly every four to six months. Each season has global modifiers plus optional personal modifiers.
What are the new Kappa requirements?
From Season 1, the Collector task, which gives the Kappa container, needs fewer side tasks; a few remain, such as Gunsmith. The new conditions include loyalty level 4 with all traders and a reputation requirement with Fence. Completing Collector now awards the Dawn of a New Era achievement. Check the in-game task for the current list.
Does PvE progress carry over to PvP in Tarkov?
No. PvE Zone, PvP Zone and seasonal characters are separate profiles, each with its own level, stash and task progress. Leveling in PvE is a good way to learn maps and tasks, but you start over when you move to PvP. When ordering, tell us which mode the order is for.
What is a Tarkov sherpa?
A sherpa is an experienced player who raids with you to guide you through maps, extracts, tasks or bosses. With our sherpa hours, a veteran joins your raids on your own account, so you keep your login. It costs from $15 for one hour at the time of writing.
Can you get banned for Tarkov boosting?
Yes, it is possible. Battlestate Games' terms do not allow account sharing, and it can ban accounts that break its rules. Piloted leveling and task orders carry real risk. Sherpa raids, where you play your own account with a veteran, carry less risk, but no service can honestly promise you will never be actioned.
